Nice machine

The computer is to be used in an office environment and will run business and light cad software.
The machine came with Office preloaded which needed to be activated. Acrobat X std CD was also included in the package but was not installed. The choice of Video cards on the HP web site was disappointing. None of the cards available was compatible with all our software so we purchased a min spec card with the machine and this may need to be upgraded later. The computer connected easliy with our SBS server and worked with the seperately purchased HP 2511 monitor. The sound output although not a necessity seemed acceptable so we decided not to install a dedicated sound card.

Decent system, issues with ports, power problems

Overall, this system is decent. Built it with 6 GB RAM, 1 GB AMD Radeon Graphics Card. Problems arose when trying to hook up two monitors. The additional graphics card, as opposed to just utilizing the integrated card, prevents the use of the two DVI ports from the integrated card. The Radeon card only had 1 DVI and then 1 HDMI port, and I didn't have HDMI monitors, so I had to purchase an additional converter cable. Also, the "Catalyst Control Center" for the Radeon graphics card is pretty terrible, and does not allow for a dual-screen option with independent views (only a stretched desktop), so I had to go through the Windows 7 display set up.
A second problem is that twice in only 7 days (once on the 3rd day, and once on the 7th day) of owning this tower, the power has cut off in the middle of work. Everything seemed to be running perfectly fine, no overuse of graphics or processing capabilities at all, and then WHAM, turned off. This is a bit disturbing, and should not happen on a new system, especially when not maxing out on processing and graphics.
If I could do it again, I'd have gone with an nVidia graphics card, rather than AMD, and might have gotten additional RAM. Maybe this needed a better power supply as well.

This is the second HP computer we have purchased from the website and I'm happy to say, the entire process has exceeded my expectations. From the ease of use during the whole selection and purchase process to the speedy delivery of the finished product I was not disappointed in any way. The computer itself is a dream to use and I couldn't be happier with it!

Weak WiFi Receiver

Only using the HP ENVY h8-1400t for a week but so far I am pretty satisfied except for the WiFi receiver. It pulls in a very weak signal (only 2 bars) all the time as did the Dell desktop I tried and returned. I have 2 Toshiba laptops in the same room and they always pull in an excellent signal with full bars but unfortunately do not make a desktop model. The beats audio is why I kept the HP. Great sound when fed through my home stereo system. Not crazy about Windows 8 either. Too many things moved around. It took me almost 10 minutes to find out how to shut down. I guess I have to re learn some things and I hate wasting time with the manual..

Easy to install. Fast. The most difficult part is learning Windows 8 but I'm getting there

I was a little worried about getting a new pc with windows 8 since a lot of people trash it, but I have found it to be very fast so far. It navigates very fast, and all the programs seem to fast as well. Was very expensive, but otherwise, I'm happy so far.
