still works, but now when the microwave isn't running, and you open the door, the microwave turns on with the door running. I am worried that this is not safe, so will need to buy a new microwave now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Depressing that it is no longer made...

Have to say that the poor thing has rusted out from under us. A workhorse, under the counter so that small kids could use it. Six years old and if it really weren't rusting, we would still be thrilled. But it lasted longer than anything we've owned, and the huge capacity has steamed vegetables daily (probably why it is rusting).
GE, why, after a perfect product, aren't you making top of the line countertops?

Best microwave we ever had

This microwave was manufactured March 2007. We got it shortly after that. I think it was June or so. Right now its January 27, 2013 and its still going like it was right out of the box. The only reason I came to this site was to find out the wattage output. Then I seen this review area and I just had to tell everyone how pleased we are with this product. Too bad they dont make this model any longer. We use it on a daily basis and it really gets a work out with kids in the house. I feel this is the BEST product we have ever bought.
