EPSON XP 600 PRINTER

Not satisfied with the printer. The purchased unit was replaced after 2 months because it printed in red ink--an ink print head was stuck. Machine is noisy. Uses lots of ink--expensive per page printed.

Frustrating Wireless set up
on November 27, 2013

I spent a couple hours along with my husband to get this printer to get set up wireless. We followed the step by step directions but keep getting failed. This worked flawlessly on my husband's computer, which was installed first, but we can not get it to set up wireless on mine. We tried going back to the beginning several times but it just won't connect Wireless and that is why we purchased this printer. It is set up with a USB cable but we may return it for another printer if we cannot get this set up wireless on my laptop. Very frustrating! I have set up wireless printers before and never experienced this problem.

Printer iffy at best

Printer is definitely an ink hog! The cartridges aren't expensive but be prepared to buy a lot of them. When one cartridge gets low it stops printing altogether. I have had this printer about 4 months and have gone thru 2 black xl and 2 regular size black, 3 blue, 3 yellow, and 3 magenta and that is not doing an excessive amount of printing. Now tonight it has stopped printing again and won't even print a complete print head check paper. Have done all the maintenance and updated and it just isn't working. I did buy the extended warranty, that I usually don't do. I suspect the nozzles aren't working. Back to the store with this one. By the way, this is the 3rd time I have had this very same problem and was solved each time with new cartridges even tho all were over half full when problem started.

Epson XP 600

Although the XP600 prints nice enough and I do enjoy the AirPrint feature, it is not a printer I would recommend. When a cartridge is out of ink on this printer, it will NOT WORK until the ink cartridge is replaced. If 1 cartridge is out of ink, it will not scan or print in any color. I have never encounter this as an issue before as the other brand printers I have had are useable if one cartridge is out of ink. I will not purchase another epson printer for this reason.

Generally good, but...

Just after 3 months of buying this printer and being generally very happy with its performance (double sided printing worked very well, for a printer of this low price), the printer stopped printing black. I tried everything without success. It turns out that there are dozens of comments about the same problem in the user forums. I spoke to the customer service and the solution they offered was sending me free of charge a high capacity cartridge, because "the ink is different". Sure enough, I tried it and it started working again. So, in my opinion, this is a known problem to Epson, to the point that they also know the solution. I am consuming those cartridges since then and all is well, but in my opinion what Epson should do is changing the ink in the normal capacity cartridges for the one that really works. Only in this way I would be able to recommend the printer to anyone (it actually works pretty well, when it woks).

OK, but...

The printer itself is too dark. Being all black makes it hard to find the trays. We moved it up out of the built in printer roll out drawer to the top of the desk and that helped the access somewhat. The paper tray could be bigger. The instructions for changing the ink were surprisingly difficult to find.

Great Printer When It Works

Printer is very delicate. First broke after 2 months. Refurbished replacement did not work out of the box. Next replacement, also refurbished, works, but is obviously very worn and scratched. I hate the fact that I bought a brand new printer and took good care of it and ended up with someone else's broken, repaired and very worn printer. When the printer works, it is great and you can't beat the price. Also, customer service was great. I should have tried to return the original to the store for a new replacement rather that to go through Epson and get a worn, refurbished replacement.
