LG best value in 42 inch Side by Side Refrigerator

I have had this refrigerator for 2 months now. The installation and start up went very well. The refrigerator started producing ice within 45 minutes of turning on. The device is very reliable and easy to maintain. Some of the features are just great such as doors closing automatically if left ajar. The stainless steel surfaces also do not get smudged easily. The internal design is very streamlined and the controls very intuitive. The compartments for vegetables, fruit, meats and dairy products they are at an optimum temperature. I did extensive research of at least 6 other 42 inch wide brands before purchasing and found this to be the best value.
The only criticism that I have for LG is that the detailed envelope dimensions of the refrigerator (exact dimensions and actual, detailed external shape), which are needed by user to plan a flawless installation are very hard to get. That was the factor that delayed my original purchase, because my kitchen cabinets had been designed to accept a competitor brand, which I am glad I did not buy.
Otherwise, it is an excellent purchase and we are very happy with it.

Fanciest refrigerator I've ever owned!

I told myself I would never own a wifi and LCD screen equipped refrigerator, but then the LFX31995ST came out.
The refrigerator features are great, plenty of space with adjustable drawers, french doors, bottom freezer, etc. The ice machine keeps up with my 5 family members without any problems.
The LCD and whizbang tech features are useful and fun, but I really only find the screensaver/photo album and the calendar to be useful. The other stuff is somewhat clunky to use.
If money is no object, get it. If you're on a budget, there's plenty of other LG refrigerators that offer a much more compelling value proposition.

This is a great refrigerator. The space is generous with flexibility for all sizes of items. It is very quiet.
The technology works well and is fun to use. The phone application interface works very well to transfer photos to the fridge or recipes to my phone's grocery list. I have only had it for a few days and there are still lots of features I need to learn to use.
The technology piece is not an IPad, but it does lots of things that are useful and fun.

Features don't work as advertised...

It's a nice refrigerator as far as size and form factor, but the SmartThinq is not what's advertised. Quirky software; not user friendly; The food manager doesn't successfully update with my IPad even though it indicates that it's successful, nothing updates. Definitely needs a software update to make it work as advertised.

Good refrigerator, terrible software support

The base unit works for for us with only one issue in the first couple of months service. That issue involved the ice dispenser light sticking on removed power and our reset fine (so far). Software support is not nearly as solid as we expected and in my car no longer works for remote connectivity starting the Ref needs to sync.... Too bad, a minor flaw / cost item ruins an otherwise potentially great device.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
