[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Pulse 6 is phenomenal! Set up was so quick and completely flawless. It holds a charge up to 12 hours and has amazing sound quality. I was honestly surprised by how much sound the speaker puts out for its size. It’s lightweight and easy to carry which makes it perfect for using at home or taking on the go. I already know this is going to get a ton of use and I’m already planning to use it for my kiddos baseball walk-up songs. I love that it is waterproof and dustproof. You never know when the weather is going to change at a baseball game, one less thing to not be worried about. The light feature is so fun. It is bright enough to light up a completely dark room. It makes the atmosphere so fun. Overall, this is a fantastic speaker for the sound quality, portability, and the light features. I’m really impressed with it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me preface by saying this; this isn't going to win any awards for best sound. And it shouldn't, because that's not what it was built for. But more on that later. Let me talk about what does matter, the overall package. First and foremost, it's a visualizer for music and that's what it should be judged on. And boy howdy, does it do its job well in that department. The clean flow or colours from one to another are sleek and bold. I actually caught myself staring at it multiple times instead of listening to the music! What also helps is the nice handle at the top for "carri-ability", avoiding having you to grab the speaker on the glossy surface. And when charging, the LED's on the interior of the handle act as a battery percentage. There is a ton more light features than on previous generations, of which I can say that is a plus. It allows for more variability in what kind of environment you find yourself in; a beach, fireside, or trying to recreate a club!
The setup is dirt simple. Turn the speaker on and any modern phone will see it and can connect to it with a tap of a finger. You can use the app to customize more of the light functions and EQ if you're a little adventurous.
The sound, despite my earlier comments, also is a force to be reckoned with. I'm an absolute snob when it comes to quality and how 'full' a speaker can reproduce music. Comparing it to other speakers is like apples and oranges because, it's not setting out to be the best in sound quality, so keep that in mind. What I will say is that it keeps up with how you need it to perform. It gets loud, I had it set at 60 percent and I find that uncomfortablely loud in a large room. Volume will not be an issue outside or inside. The benefit that I find in this speaker is it's facing upward, which allows the room to be filled with music instead of having a 'directional cone' pointing in one direction. You can walk to the other side of the room and have just as good listening experience as standing right next to it. Sure it lacks in some bass, some of the low mid range (acoustics and depths of instruments) however, the mid highs and highs kind of make up for that by giving that sharp detail in both instruments and some synths.
Overall, I judge this based on what it set out to do and that is make music more of a light show. Pair this up using the "Party" feature with another compatible speaker and you're in for a 'light-show-filled-night'!
