I’m a 66 year old contractor and can do anything. Installed island hood 48” on new screened in porch with slope ceiling. The slope ceiling made it a little slower but worked out great. Worked on it about 1&1/2 days with hard venting and roofing around roof vent. Floors and furniture, project completed

Just purchased a few weeks ago for lanai in Florida home to remove grilling smoke which it does with ease. I'm a licensed contractor so install was easy and straight forward. Only complaint which I will live with is telescoping chimney has a distortion and burn mark on one corner from welder applying too much heat during manufacturing and didn't see until installed and then removed protective film. I must say I'm impressing all the neighbors cause it looks awesome.

This is a great system but installing it is a difficult project and I think probably not for the average DIY enthusiast. That said I am 72 years old, not a professional contractor and I did the whole design and install myself. But counting removing the old hood and the various construction elements required in the attic it took about 30 hours for the job. I had a good plan and all of the tools including chopsaw, table saw, nail guns, compressor, impact driver, and most importantly a chain hoist to raise the hood into the attic.

We looked around at a ton of range hoods, and other than Vent-a-hood, most of them kind of looked the same- either ultra modern or kitchen industrial, and we weren't thrilled with that. We also wanted something with plenty of ventilation for our professional series stove.
After a few weeks of looking, we came across this on the Range Hood Store- the photos looked like they might be CG or something, but we took a chance and went ahead and ordered it- it really does look just like the photos- in other words, simply gorgeous.
We self installed- if you choose to do this, make sure you know what you're doing. You'll be cutting metal to fit the length correctly to your ceiling, and it's not a light hood, so be sure to reinforce the ceiling appropriately. You do have a bit of wiggle room with the top trim, so a perfect cut there isn't required. It most definitely is a two or better yet a three person job. If you have 8 foot ceilings you'll only wind up using about 4 inches of the chimney cover- I thought for sure I was screwing up somehow, but it is correct. And the brackets will need to get chopped as well.
Some wires had worked their way loose during shipment, which was an easy fix. Other than that it works well- frankly the lowest speed has been fine for most everything so far, and it is definitely loud- on high it sounds like a jet engine taking off, but you are moving a ton of air.
We would absolutely buy again- there's nothing we have seen like this for style anywhere near this price point.

We purchased the 42" hood more than two months ago for use in our kitchen remodel. It was finally installed and is much larger than I pictured in my mind. I noticed minor blemishes on the corners of the hood but not enough to complain about. My wife insisted on a hood with no nameplates and so this was our choice. The unit is somewhat quiet when the fan runs and there is plenty of light.

I purchase a island hood a couple of months ago. It has worked well. The only issue is if there is a wind it can pull the smoke up. I think it would work better if wind was blocked by wall. My outdoor kitchen is open. Pay attention to how it mounts, my ceiling was not flat and I have beam near the where the vent hood was installed.

We recommend installing an outdoor and island range hood that is a size or 2 larger then the grill or stove top it is above. This helps catch the smoke more when there is wind.
