Fantastic Redesign over the Full Sized Opal Unit
on October 14, 2026
Posted by: C Chris
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Opal Mini Pro is a big upgrade over our last full-sized GE Opal Ice Machine. We are only a household of 2, so the size of the mini works much better for our lifestyle. The ice bin is large enough to have ice at the ready whenever you need it. Cleaning this unit is drastically easier than the full sized model. The redesign and access points to internal areas allow for more thorough cleaning and maintenance, to ensure there is less bacterial growth.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I would not recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is awful! I need to return it. It makes this horrible screeching sound, it doesn’t seem to recognize the side tank, the bottom tube came off and I can’t get it to stay back on and water started squiring everywhere. This was a very expensive mistake. The ice it made was great but otherwise - the machine doesn’t work as promised.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are happy to provide guidance with the sound level of this icemaker. A screeching or squeaking sound is normal when Opal is in need of defrosting, it may start to squeak as ice starts to build up around the mechanisms. The defrost cycle is automatic and may take 10 to 45 minutes. We would like to assist you further with this Opal and gather some additional information from you. An agent will be reaching out to you via email. Please respond to the email at your earliest convenience.

Best Machine Yet!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best ice machine I have purchased and this is my third. It has a smaller capacity then previous machines, but makes ice quicker and is much quieter. I love this machine so far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are obsessed with this ice maker! Made us throw out our other one! It’s always stays full, no waiting for ice thanks to the water tank! It’s slick and requires little maintenance. It’s a great quality. It does take up a good amount of space on our counters even though it’s a small size.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My partner and I have both become huge nugget ice fans from this machine. We can’t have our drinks without it. It definitely requires some upkeep but it’s totally worth it and comes with everything we needed to get started. I love the light that changes colors too. It holds a lot of ice, is yummy and soft, a fairly quiet machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m really loving this ice maker! The nugget ice is soft, crunchy, and so satisfying to chew . It makes ice really quickly. Its surprisingly not too noisy while running. I also love the side water tank because I don’t have to refill it all the time. Overall such a convenient ice maker for everyday use!

We are in love with the opal mini, and we’re happy to hear it’s making your everyday routine a little more convenient! That soft, crunchy nugget ice is definitely hard to resist, especially when the first batch is ready in 5 minutes or less. The smaller design makes it easy to fit wherever you want it, and it’s great that the side water tank means fewer refills. We’re also glad to hear it runs quietly enough to enjoy without much background noise.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If I could give less stars I would. Within days of setting the machine up it started screeching so loud it sounded like it was going to take off. This is my 4th machine that has done it.
Luckily GE just keeps sending me new ones over and over again.
