I’ve had a Wyze camera from the early days when they gave you free person identification. My oldest working camera was put in service in early 21 and it’s still doing great. The main reason I liked Wyse cameras was that you didn’t have to use a service. You could just use an SD card and see any activity. This camera since it just runs off a battery and solar power, will only record events. It won’t do continuous recording, but that’s no different than their outdoor cam. the the issue with this one is that it only records for a few seconds -if something doesn’t keep moving, it quits recording. So I know they’re gonna say the reason they do that is to save the battery. Know that mine is sitting in the shade no direct sunlight. It’s under a tree next to a forest and the battery sits at 100%. That’s a good thing, but my question is why can’t you give me my 12 second recording of an event back? Another issue I have with this one is how difficult they made it to watch an event. Perhaps I’m doing something wrong, but in order to watch an event, I have to go to the device list, choose this cam and make sure it’s in live mode, then open the little menu at the bottom and pick my SD card. Now I can go and watch the events. If you open up your events in the morning to see if you had any squirrels or possums or dogs or cats or deer or raccoons all they show you is that one little snapshot you cannot look at the clip from the event screen. So far, this is a great cam and it does everything they claim but unless you subscribe, they continue to make it very difficult to get much use/information from their solar/battery powered cams
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there, thank you for sharing such detailed feedback and for being a longtime Wyze customer. We’re glad to hear your older cameras have continued working well, and we understand your concerns about the short event recordings on the Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K.
The Solar Cam Pan 2K can record motion events to a microSD card using Events Only recording, which allows you to save and review local footage. Continuous microSD recording requires the camera to be connected to a 5V/2A power source and is not supported when powered only by the solar panel.
We also understand your concerns about how SD card footage is accessed. If you’re having trouble with recording or accessing your footage, please reach out to our Wizards Team (https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us) so we can take a closer look at your setup and help. We appreciate your feedback!
Wyze camera's are a hit and miss. Mostly miss! The tracking function is absolutely horrible. If it tracks anything, it will get stuck in a weird direction and stay there. The AI says it hears a gunshot but nothing can be heard but the funny part is I live on 4 acres out in the county and its extremely quiet. So i took my .22lr out and stood under the camera and fired it once and it didn't even set it off. What a joke. It also picks up my dog and her tail and says it recorded a pet and a person and I have my dogs big stainless steel water bowl on the ground and the sun off the water sets it off as a vehicle detection. You just can't make this stuff up. What a joke. Its not just this camera but a few older models.. i went with TP-Link brand called Tapo and so far they have worked perfectly.. its your money so don't complain that you weren't warned!
I love this camera for monitoring my back yard and driveway. It was easy to install, connected right away to my WiFi network and has worked reliably since. The battery stays charged enough for overnight operation and then recharges with the daylight solar panel.
i like it no battery. it took time to find a place to install it for good coverage and sunlight
