This cameras can't record on the SD card. It can only save pictures. They are solar panel cameras. They images are in 2K, so is a good image. You would need to connect them to an outlet in order for them to record video. For most people that is completely useless. Like me. I guess you would need to sign up for they're subscription. No thank you.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there! Thank you for sharing your feedback and concerns about the Wyze Battery Cam Solar Panel and its recording capabilities. We want to clarify how local recording works with the Wyze Battery Cam Pro, which is compatible with the Wyze Battery Cam Solar Panel:
Local Recording to microSD Card: The Wyze Battery Cam Pro can record motion events locally to a microSD card, so you do not need a subscription to save video clips. Please note that enabling local recording may impact battery life, especially if the camera is not connected to a continuous power source.
Power Source and Recording: Using the Wyze Battery Cam Solar Panel helps extend the battery life, but if you require continuous recording or frequent event recording, connecting the camera to an outlet will provide more consistent power.
No Subscription Required for Local Recording: You do not need to sign up for a subscription to use the local recording feature. The subscription is only required for additional cloud-based features.
If you have any questions about setting up local recording or need help optimizing your camera’s power and storage, we’re here to help! For more details about the Wyze Battery Cam Pro and its features, please visit this page (https://www.wyze.com/products/wyze-battery-cam-pro).
I have several Wyze camaras and when I saw the advertising for this new Solar outdoor camara I wanted to own one. Unfortunately it did not preform to the hype, it had issues with the wi-fi.

Hi there! We’re sorry to hear that your experience with the Wyze Solar Cam Pan did not meet your expectations, especially regarding Wi-Fi connectivity. We understand how frustrating this can be, and we want to help you get the best performance from your camera. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to improve the Wi-Fi connection:
Ensure the Wyze app is up to date: Go to the Account tab > About in the Wyze app to check your app version. Update the app if needed.
Check the camera’s firmware: In the Wyze app, go to Account > Firmware Update and update if available.
Verify Wi-Fi compatibility: The Wyze Solar Cam Pan only works with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
Check signal strength: In the camera’s settings, go to Device Info > Signal Strength. If you see 2 bars or less, try moving the camera closer to your router.
Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data: This can help determine if the issue is with your Wi-Fi network.
Reboot your Wi-Fi router and restart the camera: Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.
Lower the live stream resolution: Higher resolutions require more bandwidth and may cause connectivity problems.
Factory reset the camera if issues persist: Remove any microSD card, press and hold the setup button for 20–30 seconds, and set up the camera as new.

All buyers be warned: this camera does NOT allow continuous recording to an SD card unless it is plugged into wall power. If you are using it just on solar power (which is probably what you hope to do if you are buying this camera labeled “solar”), your ONLY option for SD card recording is “when events are detected”. This in turn means two things:
First, your recordings will probably start about 1.5 - 5 seconds after the thing you actually wanted to capture (1.5 sec seems to be the minimum lag time for Wyze to figure out that an event is happening and turn on recording, and I’ve seen much longer). This means that for fast or sudden events, like a baseball flying into a window or a car crash, you don’t get to see how it started. You will have no ability to view footage before this window.
Second, the SD card footage will stop as soon as Wyze decides the event has stopped. This coincides with the SHORTER of whatever you have your recording length set at, or when Wyze thinks the motion stops. You will have no ability to view footage after this window. (So, for example, a raccoon that wanders into frame and then pauses to decide exactly how it’s going to destroy your trash cans will end the video and trigger the cooldown and you won’t see what happens next.) Also, if you are not subscribed to a camera plan, the definition of “event” for you is… wait for it… the 5 seconds used to create the video thumbnail. That’s right. You’ll get exactly 5 seconds per event. Even with an SD card plugged in.
Between the two, this camera is pretty useless as a solar camera.
Oh and no time-lapse ability, and no ability to specify when to record to the SD card manually. Also, the camera doesn’t pull power from the solar cell unless the internal camera battery is less than 95%, so you can’t even set a setting to say “record continuously when the sun is out and the camera is charging”.
I get that Wyze doesn’t think the battery in the camera will last under constant recording conditions, but give *me* that choice! I could at least use IFTTT to turn full recording on and off during hours of interest. Or give me the ability to turn off other features to save battery.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about the Wyze Solar Cam Pan. We understand how frustrating it can be when recording behavior doesn’t meet your expectations especially when capturing fast or important events matters to you.
To clarify, the Wyze Solar Cam Pan is designed to support continuous microSD card recording only when connected to a 5V/2A AC power source. When the camera is running solely on solar power, it operates in an event-only recording mode, which means recording begins a few seconds after motion is detected and ends when the motion stops or the maximum event length is reached. This design helps conserve battery life but can result in missed pre- or post-event footage, particularly for brief or sudden activity.
Event-based recording to an SD card does not require a subscription; however, without a camera plan, event clips may be limited in length, which can further impact what is captured.
We appreciate you calling attention to these limitations, as transparency is important to us and to other customers deciding which setup best fits their needs. If continuous recording is essential, we recommend using the camera with AC power or exploring other Wyze models designed for that use case.
