The old solar panels would not keep the cameras charged. The hub would drop the cameras. The new setup is much better

This device actually works ok but I think the product has a couple serious deficiencies. First, I bought this because it supposedly works with Google Home. I will connect to Home but it does not display camera video without additional complicated hardware installed on your network.
Second, the motion sensor seems to take a lot of motion to start recording.
Third, without purchasing a subscription the product does not record video of an event only a snap shot. I guess I understand the company motivation for this but it was not clear in the product documentation.
I like the feature that allows for downloading videos to your local device for long term storage.

I have several Ring cameras, and they always miss important events. Not only does the Solar Cam catch those events, it follows the person until they are out of the camera.

I have two Solar Cam Pans and the installation was very simple. The ten foot cable between the camera and the solar panel gives great flexibility to the installation. Setup was very simple and almost automatic. Alerts come through quickly and although I have 256 gb micro sd cards, I think the cloud monitoring plan is probably a good deal.
