This backpack surprisingly fits more than it looks like it could. I thought it was small at first! It is so stylish and functional at the same time. I have it both on in the deep plum color (for work) and the new sentosa sunset (which is a gorgeous color and I use on international trips). I like all the compartments which is great for organization. I really love the hidden phone pocket at the back. I can't imagine traveling without this now. I wish the sentosa sunset color would also be available for other products, like the sling bag :)
For years I've been using robust and manly backpacks that were available, and last fall I decided to treat myself to the classy, feminine Celina in black with gold hardware. Well, I am accustomed to being able to easily pack 3 days' worth of gear, plus my laptop, into my old backpacks, and didn't check the capacity of this bag. It just doesn't work. I had to give my husband the overflow items (top, TSA baggie, jacket) to put into his other-brand robust backpack. Even then, the straps on the Celina feel like they are going to rip off at the shoulder seams. Am not happy and will probably pass this on to my sister, who doesn't try to pack light.
This is my third Tumi backpack, and I cannot get enough of it. The number of pockets allows me to pack all of my items with ease and stay organized. I can fit my 32oz wide mouth water bottle in the side pocket to keep hydrated. Also, the sleek look of the black/gunmetal pairs well with any outfit. 10/10 recommend
Would be perfect if the straps had more padding. Aside from that, this backpack is everything I wanted and more. Here’s a list of all of the items I packed during a day-long excursion walking in Paris: 2 13.5” laptops, 2 cameras, 1 external battery pack, 1 light sweater, a small makeup/toiletry bag, a women’s continental-style wallet, and 2 packs of wide Fuji Instax film packs. And there was still plenty of room for me to stow my iPhone max and sunglasses still in the case! Oh, and can’t forget the snacks!
How was this possible?! This backpack is built for organization! There are so many versatile pockets that allow for compartmentalization—but there are plenty of zippers angled for easy access. Unless a smaller item fell to the bottom, I didn’t need to dig items out to access what I needed. This is also extremely lightweight, which came in handy when walking 12 miles.
I have the Celina in black with gold hardware and was so happy with how stylish this extremely versatile backpack is. It felt like I was backpacking, but without the worries of my bag clashing in my photos. I am in LOVE with my TUMI!! It would be perfect though if the straps were a bit more padded, but I won’t complain.
Day 1 with my Celina, aka the Calais replacement, and I am not in love. After 6 years of heavy (mgmt. consulting) usage on the Calais, it was finally falling apart (broken zipper on the front pocket, though one still works; straps coming a little apart at the top seam). I made the difficult decision to buy a newer surely inferior version. Well, I am ready to try to figure out life support measures for the Calais and asking myself, how broken is it really?
My biggest complaint is the size of the Celina. Measurements are comparable on paper but my volume test suggests otherwise. It is too small and narrow. I cannot comfortably fit what was a “light week” for the Calais. (No way am I fitting in a waterbottle and airport change of shoes anymore.)
And worst of all- there is no excess material available for the exterior pockets. So when the main compartment is full (which mine tends to be…), you cannot comfortably reach in to find anything at all. I literally have zipper scrapes on my hands from trying to grab my AirPods out of the front shallow pocket.
I’m hoping (desperately) that it will stretch out in time. How will this ever support a two-laptop week?! Anyone know a good zipper fixer?
