[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have you ever seen Dr Who? If you have-let me clearly let you know that I'm convinced this thing is a mini Tardis. If you haven't, the Tardis is this magical navy blue phone box/space ship that looks smaller on the outside than it is on the inside. This carry on from Tumi is exactly like that. Not only is it a gorgeous blue color, but the amount of luggage I was able to fit inside it was truly magical. We are a family of 8 and I have a large Tumi suitcase that is my go-to every time we travel as I can fit 2 weeks worth of everything for my family all in the one suitcase. This time, all 8 of us were going on a trip, but I had just received this Ventra Expandable Carry On, so of course I needed to try it. I'm thrilled to share that I was able to fit a full weeks worth of clothes for my family in this carry on. That was 3 outfits per person, as the place we were staying had a washer/dryer, and a swimsuit per person too. With that being said, it's worth noting that 6 of the 8 people are kids, 2 of which wear adult sized clothes, but the other 4 are 2-8 years old. So, it realistically held 12 adult outfits and 12 children's outfits.
Then, there is this magical pocket in between the two sides that has, again, SO MUCH SPACE. I was able to fit all our toiletries in this pocket and then thanks to the expandable nature of this carry on, I was able to expand it out so it all closed up nice and easy.
My one qualm-with the expandable zipper, if you're in that awkward place where your suitcase is too full to close without it, but not full enough to completely fill out the expanded space, the suitcase does feel a bit flimsy/wobbly in the middle. Once I added more into the suitcase and filled it up properly, that wobble went away, but that was more for a return trip than the way out on vacation. (Everyone brings home oodles of souvenirs, right?)
Being able to pack everything in a carry on was amazing for a few different reasons. 1.) We don't have to worry about checked bags (and them getting lost) if we fly. 2.) If we drive, it takes up way less space in our car (it can truly fit on one seat, or behind the passenger seat where our son's rear facing car seat is). 3.) It's just so convenient!
The hard shell case keeps everything safe, while the inner pocket and compartments keep everything secure and organized.
Overall, this carry on has continued to solidify our place as a "Tumi" family. The quality is unmatched.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my new Tumi carry-on bag for so many reasons. It is sleek and solid, and is different enough from all the other carry ons that it feels like a stand out piece without being loud or in your face. The quality is top-notch, exactly what you'd expect from Tumi. The zippers are solid, and it glides so smoothly it's almost surprising. It's definitely smoother than any other carry-on I've used. It expands nicely without exceeding carry-on size limits; just enough so that if you go on a trip and buy a few things, you can bring them back in the same bag. I travel a lot for work (generally trips that are two to four days) and this bag has more than enough room for me. Another aspect of the bag that I love is the compartments inside. On one of the zip covers inside the bag there are individual pockets, almost like built in packing cubes. I love this small design touch as it gives more ways to separate and organize. The only thing I wish they had added was a hook on one side to hang and fold up dresses or nicer clothes. Other than that, this bag is perfect. I've already recommended it to friends and family that travel often, and anticipate getting years of good use out of it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What did you think of the look and design? I could tell immediately that this suitcase was going to be one of my favorites. When I got this delivered and unboxed, it looked luxury. It has a very sleek design with high end finishes. The quality didn’t stop there. When I unzipped the suit case the interior was something I am not use to. It has convenient zipped pockets, a ring compartment, and the quality of the fabric is unmatched. It felt nice and durable like I’ll be able to keep this suitcase forever! The zippers ran very smooth. I really love that it has an expansion option, because I was able to pack for myself and my toddler for a quick vacation with no problem. Everything had a place and fit very well in here for the both of us. The wheels being so smooth was amazing, because with a toddler in one hand, that is exactly what I needed. It glided with no issues. My husband is wanting another one of these asap! Highly recommend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just packed this carry on for a long weekend and I was super impressed. My husband could probably fit a week's worth of clothes and essentials but I'm a heavy packer so this is great for short trips. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the divided sections but it helped keep my items organized without needing extra packing cubes. I didn't need to expand it on this trip but I like that it's an option. It's also on the lighter side considering it's a hard shell suitcase. Another perk for when I travel solo. The wheels are super smooth and I was able to stack a small duffle on top as I rolled. All in all, super happy with this carry on and plan to use it as our primary travel bag.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First Impressions and design: Right from the start, the unboxing experience set the tone. When it arrived, it came packaged in its own white dust bag, which instantly screamed high-quality and gave it a luxury feel before I even looked at the suitcase itself. I will admit, I had actually never heard of the brand before receiving this. The exceptional build quality became obvious right out if the box. It has a beautiful, premium aesthetic, and every zipper, seam, and handle feels robust and high end.
Storage, Expansion, and Internal Pocketing: I recently took this out for a weekend getaway and it was the ultimate travel companion. What really blew me away was the interior organization. I'm absolutely obsessed with the clever extra pocketing built right into the suitcase. It makes separating small items, cables and toiletries, incredibly easy instead of just tossing everything into one giant open space. The expansion option is another massive win. It gives you a generous amount of extra depth, and I was shocked by how much I was able to fit inside. I easily packed a long weekends worth of clothing, extra shoes, and accessories. It all held perfectly in place without the bag looking warped or overly stuffed.
Wheels and Maneuverability: Performance wise, the wheels are so smooth, it is unbelievable. It glides like absolute butter across hotel lobbies, ramps, and walkways. It is incredibly easy to pull, spin and maneuver from the car to the room with zero resistance or dragging. For someone completely new to the brand, I am thoroughly impressed and officially a fan. This is a flawless five out of five travel companion.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Tumi Ventra Carry On has a very clean, minimalist look. It features a matte, textured polycarbonate exterior. So far it does a good job of resisting scratches and scuffs. There are no flashy logos or unnecessary external pockets, giving it a sleek, professional look. It works very well as I recently used it for work-related travel.
It weights around 7 lbs empty. I wouldn't say that is the lightest carry on I have, but it is still very easy to lift into the overhead bin after I pack about 2 days worth of work clothes and other necessities, with plenty of room to spare. The telescopic handle is very sturdy, and locks at different levels. The wheels are amazingly smooth, and I can maneuver it easily with minimal effort.
The interior is split into two main compartments with standard compression straps and a mesh zip divider. When not expanded, I have packed a pair of heels, toiletry bag, two days worth of work clothes, and lounging clothes, and I only filled up one of the two main compartments. The expanded size adds another 2 inches of room.
Overall I love this carry on suitcase. It is sleek, professional, sturdy and rolls very smoothly. If Tumi creates an under-the-seat version of this suitcase, I would buy it in a heartbeat!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the Tumi Ventra carryon! It is the perfect size for quick trips and even up to a week or so if you pack well. The hardshell is great because I know my stuff will be protected and the full zippered compartments on each half of the shell are fantastic! Being able to pack up a half of the carryon and zip the whole side closed is great! I'm able to separate my casual and more formal clothes or shoes/accessories and not have to worry about things getting dirty or more wrinkled (to an extent while traveling). The integrated lock is a great feature as well. I always find myself searching for my luggage lock before a trip and with the Tumi Ventra I don't have to worry about that anymore. The bag rolls like a dream and has 360* swivel wheels which I love. I'm excited to travel more with this bag!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a big fan of this suitcase. It’s very lightweight and the wheels spin 360 degrees. I can pull it with one hand, which makes a huge difference when you’re running through an airport with your hands full. I’m a mom of four, so having a suitcase I can easily push or pull is a must. It also stays upright when packed and never falls over, which I really appreciate.
I was able to pack for a full Sunday through Friday business trip using compression bags, shoes included, with no problem. I was honestly impressed by how much fits inside. I also love that it includes a dirty laundry bag. I keep one side for dirty clothes and the other for anything clean, which helps keep everything organized throughout the trip.
The quality is the best part. There are small details throughout that make it feel and look high quality. The patch that can be monogrammed, the hardware on the lock, it just feels thoughtfully made. It looks sleek and professional without being over the top, which is exactly what I want for work travel. There are also a lot of interior pockets, which isn’t always the case with hard-sided luggage.
The only downside I’ve noticed is that when the suitcase is empty, the expandable section feels a little soft and can collapse inward near the zipper area. I don’t think it will cause any long-term damage, but it was something I noticed.
Overall, I highly recommend it, especially if you travel frequently for work or have your hands full with kids.
