I ordered the Z line 48" to go over my 36" island gas cooktop. Once it arrived, I opened everything up and determined how to install it. We previously had a downdraft so there was no existing ductwork. We live on the coast, so with constant storms, it is almost impossible to find a company to install something for you, and if they do give you a quote, you may have to sell your car to pay them. After 2 ridiculous quotes and lengthy lead times, my wife and I (both in our sixties) installed this unit ourselves! I must say, it looks great and works great.

I'm so happy I chose this range hood last month. It is well constructed with beautiful, clean lines. The crown moulding with this vent really adds the right touch. The filters are easy to clean and the lighting is great. The vent works better than I could have hoped. My husband installed it, but he had to do a lot of retrofitting because we have 8 foot ceilings. It worked out for us, but probably a professional contractor should be hired for installation. My husband was REALLY impressed with the care in packaging.

Sleek solution for islands without outside venting

I've had my hood about 3 years so far. Works great. This was the only stainless island hood available in the dimensions I needed that didn't require outside venting, yet is powerful enough to handle wok steam and pasta pots. Attractive with 4 speeds and terrific lighting. The recessed halogen bulbs swivel slightly in their sockets, but do throw a lot of heat -- enough to crack the little glass cover on one when steam got inside. (Replacement bulbs don't have covers unfortunately but a small point and doesn't affect performance.) Love the dual set of controls on both sides of the unit -- smart!
The inside screen is sleek and easy to clean. Installation also was easier than most island hoods according to the independent installer who put it in. Overall I love it. You will too.

I bought this range hood 2 years ago. A few months after getting it the lights would only flash continually when you turned them on. It was impossible to use the lights for cooking because the of the flashing. I called the company and they sent me a new wiring harness. It was the wrong size and so they sent me another one. The problem did not go away so they continued to send me parts. Even after 2 years they continued to work with me to try fixing the defective product. On the sixth contact after trying to change out a power module they sent us a new hood. This one is installed and works perfectly and looks great. I cannot remember ever having a company stay with me and continue to help like these folks did. Great customer service and we love the hood.

Beautiful and functional, with great service

I've now had this unit for over two years. I'm so happy with this range hood. It still looks beautiful, and works like a dream. Very quiet yet efficient at getting the vapors out of my kitchen. And ZLine's service has been excellent, as well. My unit came with the halogen bulbs. After a year I called to inquire about buying the LED replacement kit and the friendly person simply mailed them to me no charge! Now that's service! They installed easily.

After lots of research I settled on a Zline Island Range Hood. Liked the look, reviews were good and many mentioned poor installation instructions. They were correct. You have to go online and watch Youtube videos which is fine, however the 1 video for an Island hood is very incomplete not to mention a very risky electrical hookup apparently done by the homeowner is shown. Fans are not overly loud for the amount of air they move. Lights are adequate, barely.
