Even our General Contractor was impressed with the look and functionality of this island hood! I purchased the short chimney kit, as our kitchen ceiling is too low for the standard chimney, and it works beautifully! It's (relatively) quiet, for as much suck power as it has, and the lighting is outrageously bright!

Nice product for the price

I bought this model after comparing several similar products. The main things that swayed me were the design, price, and fast shipping.
The unit arrived damage free, but did have two fasteners that came loose and were floating around inside the unit. I found the pieces (nuts and bolts) and reassembled.
Installation time start to finish (including assembly and porting through the roof) took about three hours - i installed this in a finished kitchen. To be fair, I could not follow the installation procedures in the manual as I only used one of the two chimney pieces. If I used the provided steps, it could have been done in much less time.
Suggestion to the manufacturer - include a full size paper template of the mounting bracket that gets fastened to the ceiling. This template could be taped to the ceiling and make it easier to square the unit to whatever reference points needed, and locate/pre-drill the mounting holes.
I gave this four stars for two main reasons:
1. The baffles do not lay flat when installed - they are off side to side which make them look like a W. They are not off by much though. I tried putting them in different spots, but it didn't help.

2. The exhaust tube is plastic and the mounting bracket through which it passes is metal with sharp edges. The tube is off-centered, so it rubs against the sharp edge and could wear through. I put some duct tape around the edge to help.

I purchased the 30" Island Range Hood approximately 90 days ago, as part of a remodel of an older home I purchased. The stainless hood is definitely the "show piece" of the kitchen, bar and dining area. I priced hoods at multiple "big box" stores and on-line and this hood was the most attractive and priced below the competition.
