So disappointed

Loved it at the beginning until the BAGEL function stopped working after the second use. I wanted a toaster to match my fridge, stove, and microwave. Paid a lot for it because I always had good luck with GE products. So disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed in Nipomo

The design was very nice but that’s not what toasts the bread. In fact nothing about this toaster toasted bread. From the first use, on the highest setting, the only indication that the bread had been in the toaster was its warmth and dryness. No “toasted” color whatsoever. I returned it. Disappointed in GE as I have been a repeat consumer for 40+ years. If you can’t design a decent toaster why should I buy GE appliances?

Looks OK but does NOT toast evenly. Bagel setting doesn't work - burns at even at lowest setting plus cooks them on both sides.
I do not recommend.

Really works!

We ordered and returned three different brands of toasters before we finally bought this one. It actually browns both sides of the bread without burning one side. That is all we really wanted out of a toaster.

Smells like it’s melting

Produces great toast but even after 8 months, the toaster emits the smell of burning plastic upon use. I make sure to clean out the crumb tray and have not toasted anything sticky, but the smell persists.
I had a GE dishwasher that was also having this problem with the dry cycle, so I guess GE heating elements are incompatible with some part of the construction.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
