The toaster times depend on the desired darkness of the toast, but we have some estimates here. The lightest toast is about 90 seconds and the setting for the darkest toast will take 260 seconds.

Tried it out with one slice of bread, not even toasting (not hardly toasted on the other side) Tried the other three slots, same thing.
Lousy product, looks nice!

Will not toast both sides evenly.

I had high expectations for this toaster, given the high ratings online and being from GE. Unfortunately, I returned it to the store after only a couple days. It does not toast both sides evenly – not even close, (see pictures). At the 4.5 setting, one side is dark and the other is very light. (No, it wasn’t on the ‘bagel’ setting.) Upon further inspection and testing, I noticed that only about half of the heating elements in all the slots were glowing red and in a haphazard pattern. No wonder the toasting is inconsistent! Toasters are not some new technology. How hard is it to ensure that all the heating elements glow when the toaster is in use?? Very disappointing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Uneven!

Toasted very unevenly. One side of bread toasted fine, the other side barely warm. I could see that the wires didn't light up much. This is a 4 slice toaster and both pairs of slots did the same thing, no accident or fluke.

Uneven Splotchy toasting!

It toasts unevenly and splotchy - light in some areas and very dark in others. Also one side toasted more than the other. I went thru all the suggested maintenance steps to no avail. It was somewhat that way when I first used it but I figured it would work thru it somehow but it only got worse! The most frustrating part is that I bought it to replace and old run-of-the-mill toaster that wasn't toasting properly either!

GE 4 slice toaster

The toaster is attractive; however, I'm not impress with this product. Three of the ports only toast slice bread on one side! I don't know if the toaster was designed toast this way or if something went wrong in the manufacturing process. At any rate, I expected more from a GE product.
