Incredible room filling sound.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This new speaker from JBL is like no other. The sound, with 3d spatial capabilities, is astonishing! Every tone is right on, bass is full and the treble is crisp and clean at any volume. Using your preferred AI assistant, you can dial in any song or podcast with ease. The JBL One app has all the streaming services available at your finger tips as well. Very easy to set up and dial in, it has a built in mic to tune the surround sound to your specific placement. One other feature is the USB input for books or music "on tape", you control this through the app as well. I absolutely love the new Cove lineup, and look forward to adding more speakers around the house to complete the system.

Big Sound, simple setup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Cove X1 is designed for anyone who loves their music that doesn’t want to spend hours wrestling with wires or deciphering complicated manual. It’s a compact system promises to fill a room with sound but without take up a lot of space. If you’re looking for a straightforward way to elevate listening experiences, this speaker makes a strong first impression.
The sound quality of Cove X1 is genuinely enjoyable. We tested it with acoustic folk to base heavy hip hop and it handles all with grace. Voices in podcast and movie come through with Crystal clear so you’ll never miss the whisper. The base is deep and punchy. It doesn’t overpower the rest of the music, creating a balance that is easy on the ears. High notes like cymbal crashes or string instruments, have a nice sparkle that keeps the music lively. At moderate levels. The audio is rich and detailed, and even when you crank up the volume for a party, the sound stays clean and doesn’t get distorted. It’s the kind of speakers unless you kick back and get lost in the playlist.
This speaker is perfect for the casual listener who wants great audio without the headache of complex components. The accompanying app JBL One as of this review date 9/3/2026 has not enable to be added to JBL Bar 500 in its “create a theater set” tab as additional channels, which is disappointing since it’s 3 channels could serve as a great rear speaker for richer surround sound for the sound bar. It does play music from its USB port. If you appreciate clear sound and minimalist looks, and you want something that works right out of the box, this is a fantastic choice.

Amazing Room Filling Sound in a Sleek Package

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sound on the JBL Cove X1 is amazing. It really does fill the room, and that is easily my favorite thing about the speaker. The sound feels more immersive than directional, almost like it's coming from around the room rather than from one specific speaker.
The speaker itself feels solid and well built. It is a little heavier than I expected, but it has a sleek design and is a great size. I tried it in both the corner of my kitchen and in my living room, and it fit great in both spaces. I also like the monochromatic design because it helps the speaker blend into the room instead of standing out.
The setup was super easy using the JBL One app. I prefer video instructions, so I also recommend watching JBL's short setup and how-to video. It goes over the controls and makes it easy to learn how to use the speakers' functions. I found the video especially helpful for quickly understanding what all the controls do.
I was also surprised by the Moment button, which looks like a heart. It gives you access to ambient sounds, and this feature is much more elaborate than I expected. I particularly liked the ocean sound and actually found myself using it.
Overall, I'm really impressed with the sound quality. For its size, I wasn't expecting it to fill a room as well as it does. I really recommend this speaker to anyone who wants a sleek, unassuming home speaker with amazing sound quality

Whole-House form and function on steroids

When unpacking this speaker, the first thing I noticed was its sleek fit and finish and hefty weight. I looked at the back of the box that shows a transparent view of the Cove X1 and was blown away by the size of the magnets on the 2 main internal drivers. Massive for a speaker this size!
Set up was a breeze and works perfectly with the JBL One app. I’m a Spotify fan so I really love the Moment button! (I did notice that whenever I use this feature, it plays a split second of the song and then plays normally. I hope JBL will fix this on a future software update). I also loved trying out all the EQ settings on the Cove. After listening to all of them for a while, I like JBL Signature the best, but you may prefer vocal, chill, energetic or your own custom settings.
I also think you’ll love how this impossibly small speaker fills up a large room with its incredible sound, probably thanks to the built in Dolby Atmos. The Cove continuously fine tunes your music to the room regardless of the volume. I got nervous the first time a cranked it up but it didn’t matter. Whether soft or loud, this speaker just nails it! Bass is deep and rich, vocals are always sharp and distinct! This one has sound quality so good you can listen for hours which I find myself doing more and more.
I plan on adding a few more of these speakers to other rooms in the house, but for now, I’m really enjoying this one in the living room which usually plays the minute I get home!

Small and loud.

The sound is pure JBL performance, clear even at volume, versatile unit that pairs with available platforms. Built solid with appealing color to match your audio setup. The added security using your VPN passwords is comfort to avoid any intrusion. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to test this solidly built unit and other audiophile will appreciate this newest from JBL.

Customization with the JBL One app

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] JBL Cove X1 is an Awesome speaker! It has Really deep bass that fills the room. The Mids and Highs complement the deep base perfectly. It fits on my bookshelf and don’t take up much space. Really love this speaker. The controls are really simple. The JBL app makes customizing your sound really simple. The Dolby Atomos makes it sound like I have multiple speakers throughout the room. I highly recommend the JBL Cove X1.

Audio powerhouse

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cove X1 is a simple yet effective smart speaker. I love the option to physically disable the microphone, which turns the speaker into an audio powerhouse. I wish it had a battery so it could be used without being plugged in. Despite that one qualm, this speaker sounds great at all angles due to its 360 degree internal speaker design. I wish it had slightly more bass, but it is limited by its compact size. It sounds as good as it possibly can based on its physical size.
