Head and shoulders better than the old five in one that I had for years. Monitor is great and clear. I would wish for a touch screen and the antenna to be hidden… Oh and for it to work with Weather Underground.
I bought this unit guessing it had the same battery capabilities as the older ones that can’t be hooked to internet but it doesn’t. The battery back up that can be purchased separate only last 6 hours. I use these on a construction site that often has no power as in this case. The generator is turned off over night.

App readings don’t align with the monitor readings.

The AcuRite NOW app receives an update from the display every 5 minutes, while the display unit receives updates from the sensor every 18 seconds. This may cause a slight discrepancy when viewing them side by side.
I've had the Optimus installed for about 6 weeks. It complements a still working Iris system because I have remote temperature sensors which I want to monitor which are not compatible with the Optimus system. Although sensors are promised to be coming for the Optimus or perhaps compatibility with existing sensors??? Also missing is the interface with weather undergound.... again, supposedly coming but no timing shared. The Now App is clearly a downgrade from the Iris App. So many shortcomings in the graphing function versus the Iris App. Hopefully updates are coming????? Another issue which I have submitted to support and awaiting response is the Antenna signal strength indicator. I have placed the display within 25 feet of the sensor and get sporadic signal strength indications of 0 to 5 bars within a 5 minute close monitoring period. This is half the distance from the sensor to the display versus the setup of my Iris system which never had any reception issues. AND, the process to add the Optimus when you already have an Iris account is terrible!!! It should have been a simple process using one's existing Acurite credentials, but I ended up needing to set up a separate email account with Acurite. These issues should have been realized and corrected based on early pre-release trial user feedback.

Thank you for your review of the Optimus Weather Station; we appreciate your feedback! We are currently working on adding the ability to stream to Weather Underground and hope to have it up and running soon. Eventually, all AcuRite devices will be migrated over to the new AcuRite NOW app. You will receive an email once your existing devices are ready for use on the new app. If you have further questions or concerns, please reach out to our support team via live chat or email request.
I bought this with the intention to monitor the weather at my house and so far it is pretty good. There is no preview for the positioning of the sensor to ensure then I mount it it would be far enough away from electric high lines so that I could take advantage of the lightning in the area. It should have included an extender to help mount it further away from my roof. Knowing this now I probably would not recommend it to a friend.
I’ve recently upgraded to the AcuRite Optimus Weather Station, and while I’ve had some mixed experiences, there are areas where this unit truly shines—and others where it falls disappointingly short.
Build & Sensor Quality – Solid and Dependable The hardware itself feels very durable, much like the AcuRite Professional model I used for about six years. The Optimus unit looks well-built and attractive when mounted. Based on the quality of construction, I fully expect it to last just as long, if not longer. It has that same sturdy, weather-resistant feel that made me trust AcuRite’s products in the first place.
HD Display – A Huge Step Forward The new HD display is a major highlight of this system. It’s bright, colorful, and very intuitive. The additional color coding and layout make it far easier to quickly glance and interpret readings without digging. All data is presented clearly, and the visual design is modern and sleek—this is easily one of the best displays I’ve seen on a personal weather station. It’s a true upgrade from previous models and significantly enhances the day-to-day user experience.
The App – A Major Letdown Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the My AcuRite app, which has taken a serious nosedive in quality. It feels like it was designed with the absolute minimum investment—barebones and frustrating. Essential features like barometric pressure and UV readings are completely missing, and the charting tools have been gutted. There’s no real customization, no detailed history views, and overall, it lacks the depth that made the app so useful with the Professional model.
As someone who relied on the app more than the display with the previous unit, this is a real disappointment. The downgrade in functionality is so significant that I’ve genuinely regretted the purchase. For anyone who values remote monitoring or historical data tracking, the current app experience simply won’t meet expectations.
Final Thoughts The AcuRite Optimus weather station is excellent hardware paired with an outdated, nearly useless app. If your focus is on having a robust station with a gorgeous, high-functioning display, this system delivers. But if you, like me, depended heavily on the app for remote access and deeper analytics, this may not be the upgrade you’re hoping for.

While you can get weather data from local TV stations and on weather apps having your own backyard data is much better! I like the compact color HD display.
