Things to understand before purchasing Optimus

1. Mounting to a pole may require a change. It does not use the same adjustable diameter clamp as Atlas or Iris.
2. You will not be able to check the weather station via a web browser. No web access to the dashboard. Does not currently support Weather Underground (possibly in the future). ONLY dashboard access is via the new app (AcuRite NOW). Not supported in My AcuRite app.
3. The battery backup option for the display is REQUIRED (not optional) if you want to record weather when there is a possibility of a power outage. Without the battery backup, the weather station loses everything (date, time, rain, etc.) during a power outage.
4. I haven't found a way to decrease the light intensity of the display. It's either on (bright) or off. Doesn't appear to be adjustable.
5. The AcuRite NOW app can show rain accumulation for "Today", "48 hrs.", "Week", "Month", and "Year". But not "24 hrs."
6. The Optimus manuals do not include installation instructions for the Remote Battery Pack. It is a supported option and does work.
7. The rain buckets of Optimus appear to be less sensitive to wind movement (false rain reading when the weather station moves).

The Acurite Optimus is so much better than what we had. The HD Display is great, easy to read, a wealth of information that is easy to read and understand. Now for the bad, the AcuRite Now app needs a lot of help, there is a lack of information displayed that is available on the HD Display screen. Also, there doesn't appear to be a way to join other in displaying to data to a wider community

Optimus allows me to review all the data I want, especially high and low temperatures and high and low wind speeds. Lighting detector is an added bonus Highly recommend this product with the lifetime warranty. I'm a 78 year old man who's always been interested in weather data, both in northeastern Illinois where I live and nationwide.

Well some of it works great. For some unknown reason my rain history deletes itself at the start of every new day. It keeps hourly and day totals until the stroke of midnight then everything rain related automatically goes to zero & starts over. I did a total reboot and that didn't change this issue. Any suggestions? I do love the crisp display and the flex mode operation featuring what interests ya most.

Bought this a few days ago, and so far has been working great! I have had no connection issues, the entire setup took less than 5 minutes. I installed the sensor outside, turned the display on and it already detected the Optimus nearby and knew which “A, B, or C” code it was on! I find the app very useful for checking conditions while I’m away, or looking at graphs- but I do hope Weather Underground support comes soon. Although I have a few small complaints about the app, like some minor bugs, I expect AcuRite is working on it, and I hope for great updates in the future. Overall, great new product from AcuRite!
