I would not recommend this model because of its bad design. The wind speed is wrong when the wind is blowing from all westerly directions because anemometer and the wind direction pointer are at the same elevation. The tail disrupts the wind speed. I have video showing this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I’m replaced an Atlas with the new Optimus. Very pleased with the new system. Just bummed that you offered a rechargeable battery pack a week after I ordered my new system.
This is the third (and last) Acurite product we will purchase. It was put into service in late 2025 or early 2026 and, for at least the third time, it has lost connection to the sensor. Our prior units, with the sensor located in the same spot, did not have this issue. Since there is not a battery compartment in the display (the one offered will not fit on our windowsill), I need to drag an extension cord around 40 feet to do the pairing with the sensor, not fun in 20 degree or less weather. The fan in the sensor is running, so I know it has power (it has the solar panel option). We like the device when it works, but it is showing itself as unreliable.

Physically, the weather station is sleek and modern-looking. It is powered by the solar charged kit separately purchased and worked well down to near 0 F. The wind vane is not very robust to bird perching and was knocked off by a redwing blackbird trying to perch. It also seems not to be delivering real -time data every 3-5 minutes like the MyAcurite devices do. Is this a financial decision by AcuRite? I like my 5-in-1 better in this regard.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review of the Optimus Weather Station; we appreciate your feedback! The Optimus display unit receives data from the outdoor sensor every 18-30 seconds. The AcuRite NOW app is updated every 5 minutes. If your station is not updating as it should, please reach out to our support team via live chat or email request for assistance.
I haven’t installed my Optimus due to winter weather but I’m excited to get it up and running. My Atlas has been awesome over the many years I’ve owned it and I believe the Optimus will be as well. My only issue at this point is the app that has been created for the Optimus. At this point I’m under the impression that I won’t be able to view my data from my Windows 11 system and that is not good. Please build an app that will work on Windows systems as well as IOS.
I would recommend this to a friend!
