Had our first rain last night and it measured the rain and with the optional Solar Power panel. It did not short out as the Atlas did. Smaller profile in my yard.
I really like the look and flex options of the display, and the sleek/compact design of the sensor, on a hot sunny day the temperature reads 5-6 degrees higher than official city sites, it arrived in a timely manner, overall I am happy with the purchase
Mounting options are non existent. Unfortunately I’ll be returning the device. Have an Atlas that is mounted to pvc. This new one needs to screw into wood it appears.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Optimus sensor can be mounted in the same way that your Atlas is mounted. These sensors include a mounting bracket that can be attached to a vertical or horizontal surface. Alternatively, you can use a length of 3/4 inch schedule 40 or 80 PVC pipe or a steel pole with an outer diameter of one inch instead of the mounting bracket. If your existing mount is one inch in diameter, the Optimus can be mounted on the same mount.
I AM OLD.....therefore, do not do well with digital methods of providing meager manuals, troubleshooting ststem issues, etc. There is NO manual provided with the Optimus system (only a "quickstart/install" card). I put in several hours (about 6 to be exact) to get my units (Optimus sensor, display, uninterruptible power base, and solar charger) up and running. That said I give it 4 stars because it is a great improvement over my older Iris system and the range allows me to install the sensor in a less windprotected area. This display is much more useable in my livingroom with the "themes" that allow you to select brighter backrounds. And my wife likes the lightning strike warnings because she wants to watch the light shows and this lets her know when they are approaching. We only wish the system provided more accurate information on the strikes - like better accuracy on how many strikes at stepped distances (such as x number within 9 miles, y number at 5 miles, z nunber at less than 1 mile) instead of just lumping all strikes at "within 9 miles"...
I ordered the new Optimus and this weather station did not disappoint, it looks better than the picture. The functionality that it has is awesome, I love it. Very accurate and precise, Thank you. Jim T
Got this as a gift, I'm new to weather stations, but seems super basic for the price point, and it seems like unless they do a lot more updates your probably better off going with the Atlas. I wish it could connect with weather underground, it would be cool to share the data i get in my yard and compare it to the others in my area and I like being able to see the map where you can watch storms coming in and stuff.
