[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had my Frigidaire wall oven for about two weeks and have used it for traditional baking, roasting vegetables, air frying, and pizza.
One added feature over my old oven is the air frying. It comes with a large basket and I was able to cook 6 large chicken breasts at one time. I took it slow, checking the temperature after 12 minutes then every 2 minutes until it reached 170 degrees. I know, 170 is over the recommend temperature of 165 but the chicken came out very juicy with just the right crispness. I can now say goodbye to my counter top oven which I could only cook 2 breasts at a time.
I’ve only tried the pizza once and it was a disaster. The oven heats up to 750 degrees and it only takes two minutes for a fresh dough pizza to cook. I had a hard time “flicking” the uncooked pizza off the peel onto the hot pizza stone and some of the toppings (actually quite a bit) fell onto the stone. This made my house fill with smoke and with 20 seconds to go I had to take the pizza out and it was quite burnt. My husband actually loves his pizza this way so it wasn’t wasted. I did use flour instead of cornmeal under the fresh dough so next time I’m going to give it a go with the cornmeal as was recommended in the instructions. I feel there is definitely a learning curve with the pizza oven but I’m not giving up. I know I will master making pizzas that taste like they came from a brick oven.
Another additional feature is the “smart” capability. The app allows me to control my oven from my phone. I tested this out and it will definitely come in handy when I’m outside or on my way home and want to preheat. It also notifies me when the timer is ready to go off which is nice.
The other features on the oven work as expected and the controls are very intuitive.
