GE Profile LCD Touch Pad Oven PKS7000SN1SS

Started out using the oven off line and everything seemed to work well. I found out that you can not connect wifi to the oven without first opening a GE online (internet) account. I understand this account lets you operate the oven via the internet from anywhere to can get on line. I just wanted to use the Wifi from my house on my own network. This oven came with 2 trays which was nice but many other manufactures include a broiler pan as well. The Broiler Hi - Low feature is great as it allows you to tone it down the broiler when the food just becomes brown so you don't burn it. Read the manual about which self should be used when cooking or broiling which was very good for a starting point while you get to know how the oven cooks the best. Physical appearance of the oven is beautiful especially when you turn off the clock. When i installed the oven i had to change the circuit breaker from 30 amps to 20 amps which you may think is a good thing (more efficient oven that uses less electricity) but my old oven would get to 350 degrees much faster than this oven. It may seem petty but i don't like having to wait longer for the oven to preheat just so i can say i saved a few cents in electricity. Now because i am in the kitchen longer i wasted my electrical savings on the kitchen lights because i am in the kitchen longer waiting to bake. I don't like the idea that i have to expose my use of the oven to on the internet to GE in order to use the wifi feature. Upgraded the firmware then took the oven off Wifi. The light switch failed to respond when operated on the LCD touch pad. Put the oven back on Wifi and it responded when operated on touch pad (wifi firmware version: 0.0.1.61). Also the clock feature will not turn off the display when you simply use the "turn off clock display "switch". I was able to turn off the display by setting the clock on/off display times both to 1:00am. GE needs to go back through the firmware and work on getting the bugs out and they should allow the owner of the oven to decide how they want the Wifi to work (local or internet mode). In Local mode they should allow the IP address, SSID, and password to be programmed by the owner. In Internet mode i would say they are good to go as it was easy to get the oven on line using the display prompts. I would have given this oven 5 stars if the wifi could be set locally on your own network. Every other product i own works that way (Printer, Scanner, NAS) why not this oven? Over all a very well made product.

Even consistent baking temps

This oven is easy to use and has lots of features, although we will probably never use the WiFi related features and view them as superfluous . It maintains accurate temp control and the “cookie test” shows that the oven has little temp variations while baking. This is a real plus. So far we are pleased with our choice of this oven. All the good reviews notwithstanding, I think it is a little overpriced, but you usually get what you pay for so no complaints so far. We will see what the coming months bring. I’m optimistic we will continue to be pleased by its performance.

I love how easy this oven is to use! Starting the oven is easy and it heats fast. The bottom rack slides out smooth compared to other oven racks. Love the design as well. The clock numbers are big so I can see the time from across the room.
