I bought this about a month ago in preparation for a dive trip. The functionality is impressive, covering many different activities. The online videos are helpful in initial set up and functionality regarding scuba diving. It’ll take me a while to work my way around all the functionality and all of the menus, but it’s well worth it. This is a very impressive dive watch. I completed my first dive with the watch yesterday and it matched the pressure and depth of my other Dive computer exactly. In addition, it provides a dive profile and water temp profile after each dive. Nothing but compliments for this new watch.
Loaded with functions, but slower than FENIX. Starting up after initial power up or after sync with Garmin Connect seems to take 2-3x longer. Maybe time to update the product with a faster processor.
The Garmin Descent Mk3i is easily the best dive computer I’ve ever used. It strikes an impressive balance between advanced functionality and real-world durability, making it a standout both underwater and on land.
One of the highlights is the compass—it’s extraordinarily precise and reliable, making navigation feel effortless even in challenging conditions. While the menu system is undeniably complex at first, it becomes manageable with a bit of use and ultimately offers a level of depth and customization that serious divers will appreciate.
What really sets the Mk3i apart is its rugged build. This watch is clearly designed for demanding environments. Whether you’re getting in and out of your BCD or bumping against gear and ladders, it handles impacts without issue, giving you confidence dive after dive.
Beyond diving, the daily metrics are excellent, making it a true all-in-one smartwatch. And the dive log and companion app are simply outstanding—arguably the best dive application available today, with clean organization and powerful insights into your dives.
Overall, the Mk3i is a premium, feature-rich dive computer that delivers on performance, durability, and usability.
Fantastic watch. I bought specifically for diving and it’s fantastic. We are fairly active and I also enjoy using it for swimming laps, running, biking, and weight training. I also have the Fenix 6 which was before Garmin added the touchscreen. Love my Fenix but really like the updates including how long the battery lasts on the Descent MK3i. The flashlight is also pretty awesome and I cannot wait to use it to get to and from the tree stand this hunting season especially in green light.
Baught the watch to replace my dying Mk1. And what a good timing receiving the new watch for my Birthday ! I was pretty impatient to handel the new model but on opening I just notice during watch configuration a dead pixel in the center of the screen. A bright green dot always on :(. Hopefully Garmin will replace this new device, but for the price I'm disapointed about the quality control of the device. Could be improved. So disapointed for the delay, but the improvement from Mk1 is undeniable.
The MK3i is easy to use, easy to see and covers all the bases. Though my primary use for it is diving, it is also my daily wear fitness watch for all my other activities. As an active instructor, and technical dive instructor, i heartily recommend the Mk3I to my students at all levels. From 30 feet to 330 feet the Mk3i is a solid and critical part of my dive kit!
