Old coffee water

The coffee machine spits out old coffee water from the last pod at the beginning of each brew. I have had many Nespresso machines over the years that I have loved but this one is gross.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Been using another single-serve brand for 9 years, randomly decided to switch over to the Vertuo Up and i absolutely love it. so many great options, i love how it reads the pod. Also love the iced option.

Terrible pod discard system leads to mess and mold

I saw lots of other reviews like this and thought maybe it wouldn't affect or bother me - but the pods go into this machine sideways and the way it then discards the pod leaves water and coffee in the used pod collection tray. This accumulates mold very qiuckly.. it's unavoidable, very messy, and not sanitary. We had the Breville VertuoPlus for 6 years, never once had mold or any issues. Eventually the motor for that machine died this August so I thought I would upgrade to the latest machine, but it feels like a total downgrade. I am going to try return...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The machine heats up quickly, and I love being able to enjoy a great cup of coffee at home. I’m so happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it!

Great for Busy Days, Not for Coffee Purists

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Vertuo Up so we could make a variety of coffee and espresso drinks at home instead of buying them at the big chain coffee shop near us. The machine is versatile, makes good brews, and is very easy to use. The biggest challenge is figuring out which capsules have the flavor profiles I like. The coffee function is fine, but like other capsule-based machines, it produces coffee that lacks the depth of flavor you get from grinding beans and brewing directly at home. It’s not a replacement for that, but it’s a good option for those days when you just don’t have time.

Horrible Design

Can't wait to return this thing. We've used nothing but Nespresso machines since 2010. Always been pretty happy with them and with the quality of the coffee. This new Up machine is HORRIBLE. We read all the reviews stating that there's water in the used pod collection tray and figured on it being true -- given how many people have reported it -- but, thought it would be okay for us since we empty our pods frequently and our machine is right next to the kitchen sink. Wrong! This doesn't collect just a little water; it's a lot of water. And, it's every single pod. We have to empty and wipe it out after every individual use and it's just not worth it. I think the move to having the pod go in on its side (like original line machines) is such a bad design choice and is definitely the reason this is happening. Additionally, the reviews stating that nasty water and coffee grounds spit out into your cup prior to the coffee actually brewing/pouring are absolutely true. Again, it's not just a little bit. It's enough to be gross. This is such a disappointment. The aesthetics are amazing and the 3-second heat up time is no joke! However, for us, Nespresso is about quality AND convenience. This machine misses both marks.
