The new head is horrible...`

I would not recommend buying this version as the head design is not flat and does not clean that well. Also very hard to fit under any furniture. I have surprised that they produced such a thick head.

Not worth the money or hype

I will be returning this model as it’s hard to operate. The suction is good however it keeps stalling when changing from floor to carpet. I prefer the older model.

We previously had the animal v10 and honestly, we didn’t find the performance on the new one to be of any significant improvement.

Dyson V16

This is my third Dyson stick vacuum. I have the V11 and recently replaced my V15 with the V16. I had the V15 for about 4 years and loved it. It finally gave up after being dropped one too many times and was completely my fault. The V16 is expensive but is even better than the V15. The laser is now centred on the head and the head automatically adjusts from floor to carpet, so there is no need to switch heads. The trigger has been replaced with an off-on button on top of the unit, which is a nice improvement. Other improvements include a dust compressor in the dust bin and a head that can be dismantled for cleaning. You can also set it up to automatically adjust the power level in the app to extend battery life. The app also tracks your cleaning cycles and provides other useful features and info. This is the best Dyson yet!

Terrible first impression

Only lasted 15min before I starting having problems. Kept saying the head was blocked but there was absolutely nothing in it. Brought it in to bestbuy to show them and they couldn’t figure it out either. This is my third Dyson vacuum in 3 years. Very disappointing considering Dyson supposed to be a top tier product. This will be the last Dyson product if something happens to this one

Buyer Beware

This vacuum is advertised as a good option for homes with pets, although in my experience, this is not fair advertising. There are small wheels on the roller head that normally help to maneuver the vacuum. Within 5 minutes of vacuuming, those little wheels get completely clogged up with pet hair, making the vacuum hard to push and maneuver. There is no way to disassemble any part of the roller head to easily clean out the wheels, so the only option is to use a pair of fine point tweezers and carefully remove as much of the hair as possible, which is time consuming. When Dyson was contacted about said problem, they made me return the vacuum (which took about 2 weeks to get to them) and then sent me a new one (which took another week to get to me), promising the issue would not recur. As this is a design flaw and not just a defect with the machine I had, of course the issue recurred. Plus, I was without a vacuum for three weeks, which is a long time to be without what is an essential appliance in a home with pets. The vacuum also constantly stops running and has an “airway blocked” error message, even when there is no clear blockage in any of the places the Dyson video in the app tells you to look. There is no error message specifically about the filter, so I wonder if this happens because of a build up of hair or dust inside the cyclone component. As there is no way to easily reach those parts to clean it out, I’m guessing this is why the issue just persists. Also, this error message occurs within ~4 months of regular use with good maintenance. The first one I had for ~4 months before it was sent back, and the new one has started to have this same problem within ~4 months again. I believe a vacuum built for homes with pets, and at this price point, should be more robust and reliable. The vacuum also has suction problems. The suction seems good on Boost mode, but on other modes, the vacuum will leave behind pet hair after multiple passes with the vacuum. Passing the vacuum over the floor actually clumps hair on the floor sometimes, and the suction is not strong enough to pick it up. This is the case with even the finer, lighter fur of our cat. Unrelated to the poor performance problems, and inconsistency with advertising, detaching the wand part from the main handheld vacuum cleaner part is also incredibly difficult, as some other reviewers have pointed out. The only positive thing about this vacuum is the dust compactor feature. However, this would actually only be useful on a vacuum that otherwise worked.
