Loving this TV so far!

I actually went down in size from a 55" Samsung LCD that finally died to the 50" Bravia 7 II. The slightly smaller screen feels better in my small condo living room. The blacks are exceptional. The colors are way beyond that - absolutely gorgeous. Brightness is impressive, and well focused on only the right parts of the image (sunrises are amazing!). I did notice the white balance being skewed a bit warmer than expected for the settings I chose, but was able to even it out easily. Details and deep nuances in color really take visuals a few levels up. There is a 3-dimensional depth to even some mundane YoutTube content that truly transforms my experience.
Setup was easy, although there are many steps. Google TV was part of my motivation to pick a Sony and it is already a big improvement to quality of life for me. I'm so glad to not have Samsung force me into their in-UI advertising and Google Music now works flawlessly, which for some reason Samsung could never get working.
That brings me to the sound. This TV sounds good enough that it took a while to realize it wasn't using my receiver and 2.1 speaker/sub setup. But now I have it all controlled by the TV and the Sony speakers working as the center channel. It sounds so much better than I'm used to! Integration with the PS5 also works well after finding the settings for VRR, etc.
My only tiny "complaint" might be that the tape protecting the edges of the screen sticks pretty aggressively. I felt anxious about damage as I wrestled that off, but it all worked out. That is a very minor point and maybe not an issue at all.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thank you for the awesome review, McHaggis!
We're thrilled to hear the Bravia 7 II is hitting the mark with those gorgeous colors, Google TV, and that awesome center-channel sound integration.
We also appreciate the heads-up about how aggressively that edge tape sticks. We'll definitely pass that feedback along to our packaging team so they can look into making it a bit easier to peel off.
