Almost a 10 for a fraction of what those models cost

I've been in broadcast and been familiar with what a studio can look like. THX specs will spoil you. I bought an LCD because I got a deal. It was terrible with motion and 24P and black levels stunk. So time to bite the bullet. My friend has the legendary KURO which is insanely great. And yes, you can spend a bundle on many VERY expensive plasmas - but the 550 series, properly adjusted to ISF standards gives you about 90% of the performance of the big boys for a fraction of the cost. Color is VERY accurate. Motion is flawless. 24P is liquid smooth. Contrast is excellent. Black level is exceptional for the price. To do better you'd have to spend 2 - 3 times the price. So, yes - this model / series is a steal.
I absolutely love this TV! The SMART feature is awesome as it has the Viki Premiere app which allows my wife to watch her Korean dramas in HD quality. It has a USB port so I can download movies and shows and play them directly from my thumb drive. It reads almost every format including AVI, so it's super convenient. The fast forwarding works really smoothly without skipping frames. I love the built in Wifi, so watching Netflix or downloading apps (and updating the firmware) is a breeze. The only minor drawback is that the screen is glass, so it is rather reflective. To deal with this, we close our blinds and turn off light fixtures that are within the reflective angle of our view. As for the picture quality, it is superb. Even the smallest text on websites is sharp and legible. Colors are great once you set them correctly. The blacks are dark enough even though some reviews say they can be darker. The audio is good for such a slim TV. Overall, I am absolutely content with my purchase and would recommend this TV to anyone.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just have to say how much i love this tv. Price VS Picture well they both win lol. If anything the picture is so clear the the price was considerly low for it. As for being a smart tv i love it even more. Im always online using the onscreen web and playing games on it. The 3D is awsome and crisp and converts all my movie to 3D. The glasses are some what cheap but do the job well. The blacks are black which is great really adds dimesion when watching regular 2d tv. sports and action have no choppyness at all and super clear in fast motion even in 3D. I have all samsung products and i love how they all work together. On my galaxy s3 phone you can download the all share app and lets your phone act as a remote to control your tv. No need to buy the samsung keyboard remote when you phone can do all of it!!!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, 3d, all share, wi-fi direct
I would recommend this to a friend!

I looked at all the HD TV's at my local stores and decided on Plasma type display due to its superior quality at all viewing angles. No LED TV's in this price range compared to my new 51" E550 Samsung! My preference is plasma also because to me the color looks more rich. I've had the TV for about a week now and i'm more than happy with it. The smart hub apps were a little glitchy at first to download and install, but after a simple firmware update and reset all is well. You may need support with the apps if you're not tech savvy, but I had no problems doing everything myself. I would recommend this to anyone who wants the best picture for the best value. I only wish it had rca audio outputs to connect it to my old stereo receiver. There is a connection for audio but it now looks like I need to update my stereo to have the optical audio input. Note: the factory settings on the video can show a dark picture at first glance. Adjust the cell light and the brightness a bit higher on the picture adjustment options. Wonderful picture and easy to fine tune to any video source.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Inexpensive, Realistic color, nice internet video support, easy assembly
Cons: minor glitches with smarthub feature
I would recommend this to a friend!

but 1st 3D. I haven't tried that part out yet but the rest of the stuff I've looked at. Given the fact that my other Samsung TV has caused no problems at all since it was purchased I fully expect this one to be the same and so far, it's been just that. I also know several TV repairmen in my area and talk to them before buying TV's. Samsung, by a landslide, is their preferred TV of choice, both in problem free use to ease of working on them should they need service.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: speakers in rear of unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had the TV for a few weeks now and I must say I am very happy with the overall design, features, and performance. It's more like a hybrid computer than a TV. The smart TV is awesome, I love that it has built in Wi-Fi which allowed me to connect to my Hulu, Netflix, and MLB accounts and also running Windows 7 on my home computers has allowed me to view and listen to all my network shared media. I also love the iPhone App which allows me to control the smart TV better than the supplied remote. All this and I haven't even mentioned the 3D content. A really cool feature. Right now Comcast provides 2 channels and on-demand content, everyone I have shown the TV to wants one! Pandora runs great, drops into screensaver mode as it runs so no screen burning. I found myself letting this run during the day, makes for great background atmosphere as you do your chores. I also picked up a wireless kybd/mouse which to my surprise the TV immediately recognized and connected to. Makes using the browser functional. Ok, so now the bad as nothing is perfect. The remote control does not allow you to control other devices so you will need to continue to use your other remotes. I find the Smart TV feature slow to start up at times and the general operation of this feature rich TV is kind of overwhelming for my wife who is technically challenged. The sound is OK depending on the content you are watching / listening to. I found it to be low on some of my movies. It would be much better if you could jump in an out of the apps so you could multi-task but right now If I want to watch a game on MLB and also on cable I have to exit and restart the MLB app.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color

Plasma Has been overlooked:

Plasma may be on its way out according to the so called experts and maybe so but own a Plasma and you will be sorry to see them go. the letters Plasma and HD or Bluray go together quite well. This TV PN51ES550 brings out the exception in vewing. Realistic color, Durable. and do not sell the Built-in speakers short. Even though I picked up the Samsung HW-E450 soundbar it was not needed for watching TV programs, but Bluray and dvd videos. I know this tv will keep me going until OLED is offered at a price we can all afford. until then get a Plasma its worth it.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color
