Great stove with a few frustrating changes

I really like this stove overall. We had the previous model, and unfortunately due to an issue (not the fault of KitchenAid), it couldn’t be repaired. So we ended up purchasing the newer version.
There are a few changes worth noting:
1. No more Wi-Fi
Honestly, I don’t mind this at all. I never used it, so it’s not a loss for me.
2. Grates redesign
The old model had individual grates, which I actually preferred. They were easier to lift and clean. The new version combines them into three larger pieces instead of six smaller ones. It still has a removable section for using a wok, but only on one side. Not a dealbreaker, just a step back in convenience.
3. Updated knobs
At first, I didn’t like the new knobs, but they’ve grown on me. The built-in lighting is a nice touch and actually makes them easier to use.
4. Dual-flame simmer change (biggest drawback)
This is my main complaint. The dual-flame burner on the previous model had more adjustability on simmer. On this one, it feels like there’s only a single simmer setting, and it produces a noticeable hissing noise—almost like air slowly leaking from a tire.
To be clear, this is not a defect. I contacted KitchenAid and they confirmed it’s part of the design. Still, it’s a noticeable downgrade from the previous model and can be a bit annoying.
Overall
Despite these issues, this is still a great stove—especially if you can get it at a discount like I did. The oven fan is surprisingly quiet, which is a big improvement over a Frigidaire we previously owned. The dual fuel setup performs well, and overall we’re very happy with it.
I would recommend this to a friend!
