S95H Disappointing!

First impression, Disappointing! After 10 days, Awful!! This is quite a shock as the Samsung S95H has been generally reviewed and rated as one of the three best 2026 TVs. I truly think my 2007 Sony KDL-46XBR5, although not as bright, still had better image quality.
How connected: High-Speed Internet (1000Mbps) with wired Ethernet to the S95H (the S95H caps this at 100Mbps, and tests at 95 Mbps), Xfinity cable box (XG2v2-P) with 1080p, Peacock Premium through Xfinity (some 4K content), Amazon Prime Video (no 4K content), YouTube (no subscription), Samsung BD-F7500 Blu-Ray, and Galaxy S23+. Verified the Firmware as up to date.
At initial setup, accepted AI Mode, which was a “Big Mistake” (ref. Pretty Woman). Immediately blasted with unwatchable intense brightness and bleached out, blotchy, and unfocused faces. Turned off the AI Picture Mode and redid some parts of the Initial Setup.
After a few days of misery, and before writing this review, I did a total reset of the S95H and redid the Initial Setup. The issues described below remained.
Image Clarity: Overall, the S95H image constantly looks out of focus. Maybe this is attributable to the graininess some reviewers hinted at as a side effect of the glare free coating. Or, the NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor and 4K AI Upscaling Pro just can’t do the job.
Faces: The S95H’s display of faces remains a recurring issue, even after turning off AI Picture Mode. The S96H fails at displaying faces (washed-out, blotchy, and unfocused), no matter the Picture Mode, connected device, app, or content. This is especially true in brightly lit news/sports studio shows and podcasts.
Sports (Football and NBA): Do not buy this S95H TV if you watch a lot of NFL and NCAA football or NBA basketball! (I don’t quite understand how both Rtings and PC Mag rated this as one of the top TVs for watching sports.)
For football, the field often resembles split pea soup. Telephoto and wide-angle views seem blurred and out of focus, the backgrounds lack detail, and background crowds often seem to be a photoshopped pixilated mess. These same issues occur for NBA games, whether watching on ESPN, Prime, Peacock, or NBC. Worse, if the court is lightly colored, the NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor over-brightens everything, and the other issues become more pronounced.
Google AI describes the potential causes of this as OLED instantaneous pixel transition, over-aggressive AI processing, panel dimming algorithms, and upscaling issues (most sports are still 1080p). The suggested fixes regarding picture clarity, motion, blur, brightness, etc. settings kind of worked, but not really. Once I managed to tweak the Filmmaker Mode settings to make the NBA on Prime look good, but the changes did not translate to other sources or to football.
This S95H does not have an AI Football Mode, but I did try the AI Soccer Mode Pro. For football, it was totally unwatchable. For example, the field turned into cartoonish green/yellow strips between the yard lines.
4K Content: The Self-Diagnosis 4K image looks great and passed. Also, on YouTube, the many 4K OLED test videos look great, and some of my favorite AI content videos look awesome. But, nothing that I have watched on the S95H’s upscaled Xfinity, Prime, or Peacock shows comes close to the hoped for 4K quality. As for 4K, the 4K Disclosure Day on Peacock Premium (in Filmmaker Mode) showed good detail on the many dark scenes in the movie, but there were so few bright color scenes to really say if the 4K image was good or not. 4K Black Bag on Peacock Premium (in Filmmaker Mode) had the recurring overall problem of blurry unfocused faces.
Upscaling: The S95H’s upscaled Xfinity, Prime, or Peacock shows were a mixed bag, but overall not what I expected from such a highly rated TV. There were a few good surprises. The Phantom of the Opera DVD on the Samsung Blu-Ray looked great with good sound. Saraphim Falls on Xumo Play streaming over Xfinity displayed mountains, snow, and faces well and the audio/voices were good. In contrast, Edge of Tomorrow failed miserably whether on DVD or Xfinity.
Audio: The S95H speakers were good overall, but highly dependent on the fidelity of the source’s audio track. For example, the Disclosure Day audio was good and the music for the ending credits sounded great. Sports pregame shows were a mixed bag, almost like the fidelity of audio was an afterthought. Other sources could use external speakers or a soundbar. But, after my experience with the S95H, I am not sure that I would buy a Samsung soundbar.
I would not buy this Samsung S95H TV again or recommend it to family or friends. Looks like I lost the “Panel Lottery.”

The picture quality is truly impressive. The OLED display produces incredibly deep blacks, vibrant colors, and outstanding contrast. Glare-free enjoyment for the whole family

The easy to user interface is quick and very easy to adjust if needed. New and old content look phenomenal with the help of the AI and excellent contrast of the picture. Watching old movies like it's the first time again.

Plenty of brightness !!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's an awesome TV with plenty of brightness. I was earlier using Samsung 2015 LED 75" flagship model which was still running nice after 11 yrs but now wanted to upgrade to OLED and I also got a good deal on it.
Went for 83" as I already had 75" earlier and wanted to go big for the "upgrade". Brightness and contrast is very good on this OLED TV. Also glare free screen is flawless and i don't see any reflections of lights behind my seat. OS is fast. I'll definitely recommend this TV and I may even buy another one for my loft area.
