Terrible knob design. Easy to crack plastic inner.

I replaced my Whirlpool GLS3665RS 5-burner natural gas cooktop with this model. I chose it because it offers excellent power, high-BTU front and center burners, and a very reasonable price. After only one week of use, the center knob developed a crack around the center mounting hole, and the metal retaining clips came loose. As a result, the knob became very loose and can no longer turn properly. One issue with the design is that the knobs are difficult to operate. They don't have a lip so you must hold edge to grip and turn. Since you also have to push the knob down before turning it, using them requires more force than expected. The center burner knob is especially stiff, which is likely why it cracked—the knob is made of plastic and covered with metal cap. I'm disappointed with the quality of the knobs because they are one of the components you interact with every time you cook. While the cooktop itself performs well and offers great value, the knob design and durability leave a lot to be desired.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
