Hi Mrs sloppo,
Thank you for your review. While your U8000H TV may currently default to Samsung TV Plus when powered on, you can customize what your TV does at startup by adjusting the Start Screen Options.
To do this, navigate to: Settings > All Settings > Advanced Features > Start Screen Option and choose from the following: 1. Start with Smart Hub Home – Automatically launches Smart Hub when the TV is turned on. You can enable or disable this option based on your preference. 2. Autorun Samsung TV Plus – Automatically launches Samsung TV Plus when the TV is turned on. If this option is turned off, the last used source will be displayed instead. 3. Autorun Multi View Casting – If you cast YouTube content from your mobile device, the TV will automatically display the content using Multi View. 4. Autorun Multi View Mirroring – When you screen mirror your mobile device, Multi View will automatically open to show your device’s screen. 5. Autorun Last App: The last used app is automatically run when you turn on the TV. You can turn this function on or off. Press the Select button at the current menu
If you need help adjusting these settings or have any other questions, please contact Samsung Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (8AM – 9PM EST Mon – Fri, 8AM – 6PM Sat – Sun). LiveChat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

Hi DeDe,
We appreciate your thoughts on the U8000H TV’s remote. While it may appear minimal at first glance, many of the buttons are designed with dual or long-press functions to help reduce clutter without sacrificing functionality.
For example: • Volume rocker: Push UP/DOWN to adjust volume; press and release quickly to MUTE. • Long-press Volume button: Hold for more than 1 second to access Accessibility Shortcuts. • RETURN button: Press to go back to the previous screen or menu; when watching TV, it takes you back to the previous channel.
These combined functions help create a cleaner design while keeping everything you need just a button away. If you ever need help with your remote or want to learn more shortcuts, we’re here to assist. You can reach us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (8AM – 9PM EST Mon – Fri, 8AM – 6PM Sat – Sun), or reach us via text anytime. You can also visit ‘Support’ on our website for: • Live Chat • Manuals, Software, & Warranty Info
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My view is fantastic! From where I’m sitting all the channels are crystal clear and colorful! As an old lady whose eyesight is getting unclear. This is the best TV ever. Thank you so much!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The picture quality on the Samsung is excellent. It also offers a variety of programmed picture modes to change your view as well as individual brightness, etc controls. I naturally had to buy external speakers, but the speakers on the Samsung tv are superior to other brands I've purchased. They're just not suitable for quality sound. Once my Samsung external soundbar was connected, I could control the sound quality from the tv. I wasn't able to do this with my prior Roku tv external speakers. I'm not crazy about the volume control on the remote. I had to go to You Tube to figure out how to do it as the instruction manual didn't specify it. I'm using my TiVo remote to control the volume because of this. I'm able to install all of my streaming apps and easily organize them on the Samsung home screen with no problem. There are so many options to tweek picture quality, that I think just about anyone can find the view that pleases them. I've had numerous brands of televisions over the years, and overall, I would recommend the Samsung for picture quality, features, and ease of use.
