I was super apprehensive originally due to the price but ended up purchasing on Insider release day. I spent a full day building this and couldn't put it down until it was finished because it was such a fun set.

Ive built most of the 18+ with the exception of Star Wars pieces. This is to date the most fun, amazing details and challenging model I have ever built. In addition, I take the models apart after I build them and donate. The way this came together will make it easy to take apart and rebag the pieces. Best ever!

First and foremost I want to start this review by saying envy is a terrible drug that when overdone can cause catastrophic conclusions.
I love this set. Its been a bit since I can say that I had fun building a set to the magnitude. The whole process from start to finish was a blast and definetly felt sad when I was finished. It was cool throughout the process up to the final step. The fish are cool, the plant life was cool, the little Easter egg at the end which made me have to think things through was even cool.
While I can agree the price point caught me off guard, the size of this thing was not what I expected. I can sit there and watch videos on this, but seeing it in person is out of this world. Each bit seemed to feel like a work of love from the Lego Architects that built this and you really feel that as each piece slowly comes alive. I regret nothing on buying this.
For those that are coming on here to complain about the price point or the lackluster of the set. This is a template. As for this set being out for a few days, the popularity is there and can't wait to see if they have cool plans for attachments to the set. Just because as of late the sets are becoming more and more expensive, think for a moment as to why. The level of detail that these things have have increased. Call it basic but I can't imagine those complaining can create something like this. We can justify a star wars lego set being astronomical in price but an aquarium, "oh no how dare they" Hahaha. My favorite also about going and getting a real aquarium. Some people dont have time to build and take care of a real aquarium, let alone another living organism. Was there complaint on the cat? Was there complaint on any of the creator sets for the dog or birds? No. Yet a 500 dollar tag is the end of days.
Listen, somethings you have to save for. Me and my gf saved for three checks to make this a reality. Im not made of money, but we made it happen. Lego did an amazing job and I really hope to anyone they dont listen to these 1 star reviews in regards to this set. To those that complain, dont come on this site to do that, that's what X and Facebook are for, plus you might get the reaction you are looking for there.
Thank you Lego and I hope we get to see a Tropical Aquariun line from this success.

As a lego enthusiast and aquarist I want to love this set, but at the price point it's just ridiculous. For that same price you can easily set up a beautiful freshwater planted tank or marine reef tank that could sit on your desk or shelf where this Lego set could occupy. Until that price is cut in half, you're better off with the real deal.

This has been an amazing set to build. SO many interesting mechanical parts and such a creative design. The Tropical Aquarium is by far my favorite set so far. Lego design team - please create more colorful and creative sets like this for adults. I would love to see a colorful line similar to the Friends theme, but for more complex for adults.

This is probably one of the prettiest sets I’ve ever purchased. The moving pieces make it fun and entertaining. It has a lot of fun details and some that still make me smile and laugh a little when I see them. It’s a little on the pricey side but was worth it in my opinion.
