Q990H - An "S" Year Upgrade
on April 10, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just swapped my Q990F for the new Q990H in my master bedroom. Keeping everything in the exact same spot, expectations were met that this is an "S" year upgrade. Like the old iPhone tick-tock cycle, it's a half year refinement on the same physical build.
The biggest change is the reach. With my old Q990F, the sound was great, but it took a bit of dialing into to overcome the ability to tell where the bar ended, and the rears began. With the Q990H, that "gap" in the middle of the room is gone on the auto AI modes. The immersion is seamless I have to walk halfway through the room before I can actually distinguish the individual speakers. It doesn't just feel like "front and back" anymore; it feels like the entire air in the room is active.
Testing it Out:
1.) Spider-Man 2 (PS5): Swinging through NYC feels massive. The 4K/120Hz passthrough to my Samsung QN90A is rock solid, and the spatial audio fills the master bedroom instead of just coming from the corners.
2.) Invincible: The directional audio is precise during fight scenes, as the handoff between the bar and rears is perfect. The subwoofer really does make up for its tiny size, and looks clean.
3.) Cheaper by the Dozen 2: Older movies and commentary sound better, lifts the dialogue to ear level. I've noticed my wife has yet to turn on captions the past week, which is impressive in itself.
The "AI" Factor:
Samsung is leaning into AI, which really should stand for Audio Improvements. The next-gen Sound Elevation really does make a big difference. The new Auto-Volume has benefited enough to combat louder jump scares of streaming commercials.
Side notes: Watching at audio volume of 18 remains the normal use level, and overwhelmingly loud to push over 38. While the 2nd subwoofer is still not an option, the Music Studio 7 and 5 is Samsung's choice of upgrade. USB port remains available on the bottom. Tested this in the backyard (with no walls), so while there is no "bubble" to bounce off, impressive sports/movies output.
Definitely a worthy upgrade.

The Complete Package
on April 10, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Q990H Soundbar is a 11.1.4 system which consists of 11 speakers, 1 Subwoofer, and 4 Dolby Atmos speakers. It offers the complete package and an excellent sound stage for whatever content you’re viewing or listening to. In addition to the speakers, the Samsung Soundbar also supports three HDMI ports including one for eARC, Digital Optical Audio, Bluetooth, and WiFi. In the box you'll find the following items. An HDMI 2.1 cable, power cables for the speakers, remote, quick start guide, and wall mount brackets if you want to mount your Soundbar underneath your TV. The Soundbar also supports Samsung Sound, Samsung SmartThings, and Google Home.

How does the Samsung Q990H sound? It completely fills the room with audio. My wife and I use our Samsung Soundbar to listen to music from Spotify and YouTube. We also enjoy streaming content from our favorite apps including HBO Go, Amazon Prime, Peacock, and Netflix. My wife enjoys the sights and sounds of Bridgerton while I can't stop enjoying action packed scenes from the Dark Knight Trilogy. I get the same audio experience that I did when I initially saw those movies in theaters all those years ago. I want to rewatch my favorite movies and experience new content that truly takes advantage of our new Soundbar. The Samsung Q990H also enhanced my gaming experience by allowing me to hear nearby enemies while I'm playing Resident Evil Requiem or Counterstrike. You always want to stay one step ahead of the competition.
One of the best features the Samsung Q990H is how you can fine tine the experience to your liking. You can use the built in equalizer to adjust vocal clarity or you can increase the range of the subwoofer if you like a lot of bass to your content. Additionally, you can enable features like Active Voice Amplifier Pro. This feature enhances dialogue clarity by analyzing external noise. Another great feature is Night Mode that lowers the output volume of each speaker so you don't disturb others while you enjoy your content. This added bonus is great especially if you're living in an apartment building.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this Soundbar if you're in the market for something new and exciting that'll last and be relevant for a long time. The added sound stage, advanced features, numerous connections, and sleek design will make this soundbar stand out for years to come. The Samsung Q990H will transform how you listen and enjoy content from any source.

Upgraded sound bar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From a regular, non-audiophile perspective, the Samsung HW-Q990H is one of those products that immediately feels like a big upgrade over standard TV speakers. You don’t need technical knowledge to notice how full and room-filling it sounds. Movies feel more cinematic, dialogue is clearer, and the bass has a satisfying punch without needing constant tweaking. The system uses an 11.1.4-channel setup with rear speakers and a subwoofer, which basically means sound comes from all around you including above - creating a very immersive experience.
What stands out most is how easy it is to enjoy. You can just turn it on and everything sounds “bigger” and more engaging, whether it’s Netflix, sports, or gaming.
That said, it’s not perfect, and the biggest frustration has nothing to do with sound. The mounting bracket design is surprisingly poor for such a premium product. The soundbar itself is quite heavy, and the brackets sit very close together, which doesn’t distribute the weight well. Once mounted, this can cause the bar to sag slightly forward, leaving it at a noticeable angle instead of sitting flush against the wall. For something this expensive, that feels like a major oversight and can be pretty annoying if you care about a clean setup.
Overall, the Q990H delivers impressive, easy-to-love sound for everyday users but its flawed mounting design and high cost take away from an otherwise premium experience.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a magical and amazing sound I feel like I'm in a IMX move theater and the funny thing is I stopped going because of it. When I listen to music I feel like im on the stage with the artist It's very clear and loud the dynamics on it is justperfect I love when the beat drops on a song the resonance will not over powering the voice. It will not take so much space. It goes well in my house and the setting up was very easy. I love how samsung connect everything together and make things last so long.

Tremendous Home Theater Upgrade!
on April 14, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung HW-Q990H has been a major upgrade from my previous soundbar system, and overall I have been extremely happy with it. The first thing that stood out to me was the noticeable improvement in overall sound quality, especially when it comes to dialogue clarity. Voices are much easier to understand, and that alone has made a huge difference in everyday use. Whether we are watching movies, TV shows, or streamed content, speech comes through cleaner and more naturally than with my prior setup.
One of the features my family has enjoyed most is how well the surround speakers contribute to the listening experience. It is not just about adding more volume or bigger sound; it actually helps distribute voices and details more effectively throughout the room. Having dialogue and ambient sound reach different parts of the room has made it easier for everyone to hear what is going on without needing to constantly raise the volume. That has been a surprisingly valuable improvement, especially in a family setting where people may not all be seated in the exact same spot.
The subwoofer performs well overall and adds good low-end presence, though if I had one criticism, it would be that I wish it were a little punchier and hit with a bit more authority in certain scenes. That said, it still complements the system nicely and provides solid bass for movies, music, and general TV watching. For most people, I think it will be more than satisfying, even if true bass enthusiasts might want just a little more impact.
From a setup standpoint, the experience was excellent. Installation was smooth, straightforward, and hassle-free. The soundbar connected to my TV immediately through eARC, and everything worked right away without the kind of trial-and-error that sometimes comes with home theater equipment. That immediate compatibility made the initial experience much better and gave the impression of a well-designed, polished product right out of the box.
I was also pleasantly surprised by how well the system coexists with my home network. I had some concerns going in about potential interference with my Wi-Fi, especially on the 5 GHz band, but I have had no issues at all. That has been a big plus. It seems to do a good job selecting a clean enough channel or otherwise managing its wireless communication in a way that does not interfere with my other access points. For anyone concerned about wireless speaker systems causing networking headaches, my experience has been very positive.
Aesthetically, the HW-Q990H is also a step up. I really like the styling, and it feels much more modern than my older soundbar, which had a more rounded, curvier design. This system looks sleek, clean, and contemporary, and it fits in well without drawing too much attention to itself. It gives the room a more premium feel while still being understated.
Performance with music has also been impressive. It does a fantastic job filling the room with sound while staying clean and controlled, even at higher volumes. I have not noticed distortion when pushing it harder, and it maintains a balanced, full sound that works well across different kinds of content. The adaptive and AI-based sound features also seem to be doing their job well. The system appears to adjust intelligently to the room and the content being played, helping keep everything sounding consistent and well-balanced.
When I step back and look at the full package, what stands out most is the value. For the size, performance, feature set, and overall quality, I think this system is fantastic. In my opinion, it compares very favorably to similar products on the market, and the MSRP makes it even more appealing. It feels like a premium product without feeling overpriced.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Samsung HW-Q990H to anyone looking for a high-quality soundbar system with a full surround setup that is easy to install, stylish, and delivers a major improvement in clarity and room-filling sound. While I would not mind a slightly more aggressive subwoofer, that is a relatively minor complaint in what has otherwise been an excellent experience. For my family, it has been a worthwhile upgrade in every important way.
