Next-Level Home Theater Sound That Actually Feels

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Q990H for a bit now and it completely changed how I watch movies and listen to music at home. The first thing that stood out was how full and immersive the sound is, especially with Dolby Atmos content. It actually feels like sound is coming from above and around you instead of just from the front of the room.
The bass is strong without being overwhelming, and the subwoofer blends really well with the rest of the system instead of feeling disconnected. Dialogue is also much clearer than I expected, even during loud action scenes where voices usually get lost. I didn’t have to constantly adjust the volume like I used to with my old setup.
Setup was pretty straightforward, and once everything connected, it just worked without me needing to mess with it. The rear speakers make a huge difference and are worth having in place, since they add that extra depth that makes everything feel more cinematic.
For music, it surprised me in a good way. It doesn’t sound flat or overly processed, and it handles different genres well. Streaming from my phone is quick and reliable, which I use more often than I thought I would.
Overall, it feels like a true upgrade rather than just a small improvement. It made my living room feel closer to a theater experience, but still practical for everyday use.

The ultimate sound experience

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The best soundbar I've ever owned. I'm upgrading from a 5.1.2 system and this has been the perfect unit I've never known I needed. It has an amazing 11.1.4 system which transforms the way we experience audio at home. No matter the content playing on the TV, may it be a movie or music or gameplay, the sound from this soundbar is very balanced and various customizable profiles make it even more helpful.
It has cutting edge audio technologies such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X which supplement the viewing experience. The availability of HDMI 2.1 ports that support 120Hz passthrough along with Variable refresh rate is amazing when using gaming consoles. Samsung’s Spacefit sound feature tunes the soundbar to the rooms layout and it also has casting features that support both iOS and Android devices.
Smart things app connectivity is super helpful. I generally use the app to control soundbar settings depending on what time of the day I use it. Like at night i turn on the Night Mode to reduce the sub output and when I'm watching something in the day, I use bass enhancement. It makes life much easier.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently upgraded to the HW-Q990H and was immediately impressed with the sound quality and depth of the bass. The fact that the rear speakers and subwoofer are wireless help with the placement of the speakers. The soundbar connected to my television through the eARC HDMI port. There are two additional HDMI connections to connect to other systems which is great.
The actual sound quality is crisp and enhances your movie watching experience. When watching action movies there was no degradation in the quality of sound when cycling through face past action. I would recommend this product to my friends.

Excellent sound quality in a space saving package

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a major upgrade from my previous ten year old sound bar. The wireless rear speakers and sub, automatically connected, and just worked. The install was simple, and even wall mounting it was easy. The wall mount option was a nice, unexpected perk. Saved a ton of room.
The built in integration to Alexa is a nice bonus and works very well. Personally my favorite feature is the auto volume leveling. I forgot that I even had the feature on, and was running the vacuum for a few minutes and realized I could still hear the audio as it ramped up. Was great to hear it in action.
The sound quality is excellent, the room filling atmos sound enhances the home theater experience. Not sure my wife appreciates it as much though.
Regardless, I highly recommend this system.

Sets The Standard of Soundbars

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The TV in my family room had an older, soundbar setup, and while it sounded good, I was excited to upgrade to Atmos on one of them. The first thing I noticed straight out of the box was the sheer size and weight of it. Traditionally, soundbars use tiny, underpowered drivers and make compromises to fit into a small form factor. That clearly was not the case here. The soundbar itself probably weighed twice as much as my old one, and the surround speakers were at least double the size.
The soundbar itself has incredible performance. Since I have a Samsung TV, it was able to link wirelessly (if I choose) or what eARC. I was also able to use Q-Symphony to better augment the soundbar with my TV speakers which worked surprisingly well. Love the SpaceFit Sound Pro and the ability to raise the volume automatically if loud noises are detected.
The only real complaint I have is that the amp for the rear speakers is in the speaker itself, which means the speakers need plugged into power to work. I have speaker wires run for surround sound setups already, but they require speaker wire, not power wires. So that's going to be a bit of a challenge as I will need to redo some wiring, but it's worth it to get to use the full features of this beast.

Samsung HW-Q990H is a beast!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just picked up the new Samsung HW-Q990H soundbar and after a few days with it hooked up to my non Samsung TV, I'm really liking it. This is Samsung’s 2026 flagship 11.1.4 channels with the main bar, wireless subwoofer, and wireless rear speakers that have up firing drivers for proper Dolby Atmos height. Setup was dead simple. I plugged the soundbar in using eARC, powered up the sub and rears, and everything connected right away. The eARC link has been rock solid with no dropouts or sync issues at all.
Sound performance is excellent for any setup. Movies, shows, and video games feel way more immersive than the TV speakers alone. Explosions and action scenes have real punch thanks to the wireless sub. It delivers deep, tight bass without rattling everything aroind. The surround is surprisingly wide and convincing in a smaller space you can actually hear sounds coming from the sides and above in Atmos content. Dialogue stays clear and natural even when things get intense, which is a big win.
Samsung added a couple useful features this year. Sound Elevation lifts the voices so they feel more centered with the picture on screen, and Auto Volume keeps sudden jumps from blasting you during commercials. The room calibration (SpaceFit Sound Pro) tuned it nicely to my room with almost no effort. I also really like being able to control everything from the SmartThings app on my phone like volume, sound modes, EQ tweaks, all are super convenient from anywhere.
Gaming mode works smoothly with low latency, and the whole system can get plenty loud while staying clean if I want to crank it for a late night movie.
If you already had last year’s model, this feels more like a solid refinement than a huge jump. But coming from just TV speakers, the upgrade is noticeable and makes movie nights way more enjoyable.
Overall, for effortless big surround sound in any room without running wires everywhere, the Q990H is a winner. Easy setup, flawless eARC performance, and great sound. Highly recommend it. My only con so far is the bass not being as hard hitting as I want but for the size of the sub its definitely impressive and does enough for most people.
Solid 4.8/5.

Bold and Spacious Sound

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned a lot of soundbars in the last 15 years. They have always been the best audio solution for the space I am occupying. Originally it was understood that while soundbars will obviously give you better sound than your TV speakers, they don't offer much for the audiophile or someone looking for a true home theater. Samsung has broken that stereotype (pun) with their Dolby Atmos soundbars. I was an early adopter years ago, but they improved so much since then. The HW-Q990H improves on its predecessors in many ways, with some more noticeable than others. The subwoofer design is a continuation of last year's design in which they've created a more compact unit with two drivers instead of one. I've noticed a difference in both the depth and the clarity of the bass, where previously at higher volumes lows could get kind of washed out, or certain frequencies would just drown everything out. This new subwoofer design fixes that issue without sacrificing that punch that I really enjoy in media. Also the design of the soundbar itself has changed. They've opted for a parallel grill pattern instead of the traditional checkered pattern. I think it looks much cleaner. The display is on the right side hidden behind the front grill, so it's discrete but still easily viewable. The rear speakers continue to provide a rich and enveloping soundscape, which if you've never experienced Dolby Atmos satellites before, this is going to blow you away. If you are the type of person that likes to lose yourself in movies, games, and music, the HW-Q990H will make you never want to come back to reality.

Cinematic Apartment Audio Perfection

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I never could've imagined...
The HW-Q990H is the pinnacle of sound in my opinion. After upgrading from the HW-Q800T, I knew it could be better but by NO means did I think it could be THIS much better.
With such crystal clear highs and rumbling lows, I truly felt as though I was in my own person theater. The Dolby Atmos was on full display while watching John Wick and I truly felt every punch and kick throughout the action scenes. The 11.1.4-channel surround sound made the feel as if i was sitting in the hotel instead the movie instead of watching it on my OLED.
And while this may seem like a small feature, the fact that I can connect everything by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi honestly allows so much flexibility when it comes to placement in my apartment...
This is cinema...
