A great addition to your television

I just upgraded my home AV system with this soundbar along with a Samsung OLED TV. I've been very impressed with the overall sound quality. The bass is terrific, and watching movies with surround sound is incredible, especially when making use of Q-Symphony audio.
My gripes are relatively minor

While a bracket is provided for wall-mounting the soundbar itself, none are provided for the surround speakers, nor does Samsung sell any. This is only mentioned deep in the documentation -- so getting the whole system set up had to take place over a few days because I had to purchase some 3rd party wall mounts.

While the soundbar itself was easy to mount and set up (just plug the HDMI cable into the TV's eARC port), it took several attempts to connect each of the rear speakers and the subwoofer to connect.
Not too thrilled that everything comes with its own app. Was there really a need to have a dedicated sound app? Why not just extend the SmartThings app which you need to install the TV?

Real home theater sound w no hassle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Samsung HW-Q990H system is a beast. If you want true surround sound but hate the idea of running wires to a bulky receiver, this is the one to get.
The Dolby Atmos is legit. Because the wireless rear speakers have up-firing drivers, you actually hear things moving right above you. The main bar keeps movie dialogue super clear during loud scenes, and the subwoofer hits hard and tight without sounding muddy.

The sound quality is nothing short of cinematic; the combination of the powerful subwoofer and the up-firing rear speakers creates an incredibly immersive 3D bubble of sound that you can actually feel. I’m particularly impressed with how well it syncs with my Samsung TV using Q-Symphony—it makes the dialogue and action feel like they are coming directly from the screen rather than just the soundbar. Setting it up was a breeze, and the SpaceFit calibration made sure the audio was perfectly tuned for my room dimensions. Made Me Realize What I Was Missing in Movie Audio

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] the Samsung 990 soundbar gives you very clear and precise sound. I was hesitant as some sound bars that I've experienced I've had difficulty hearing voices without turning it up too loud. however I did not against that with it's that with this sound system at all. it was extremely easy to connect right out of the box and I believe my wife could have done so without any help from me we tested it out different movies and music sitting in different locations in the room. you can really experience immersive surround sound and the sound seems to come from different angles and directions as intended. it was easy to add to SmartThings and integrate with Alexa very little effort. overall we have been extremely impressed and satisfied with this purchase . it pairs perfectly with our Samsung television and is it extremely and easy to use . I would highly recommend this Soundbar system to anyone.

Incredible system, with one major flaw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall this is by far the best surround sound system on the market today. The problem? The WLAN board. After mine failed I went to a few forums looking for information about a solution. Apparently this is an extremely common problem with this system. I'm honestly not sure why they didn't just include an ethernet port. But long story short, at some point I received the dreaded, "WIFI disconnected" error. Getting a replacement board is easy enough. There's something like 40 to 50 screws that need to be removed in order to access the board. Unfortunately Getting the replacement cable is next to impossible, so be very gentle with it (I broke mine, lesson learned).
In the end it's a fabulous system, with a fatal flaw. When the WLAN board goes bad you can no longer use the system to play music, or anything that requires WIFI.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
