Absolutely blown away — immersive sound at its finest ★★★★★
I recently invested in the Samsung Q990H/ZA 11.1.4 surround sound system for a new apartment my wife and I just bought in Fort Myers, and I can honestly say it has exceeded my expectations in nearly every way.
This is actually my fourth major Samsung purchase. We already have two 65-inch Samsung TVs — one in our home in Valencia, Spain, and another in New York City. This time I went a step bigger and added a Samsung 75" Class QN90F Series Neo QLED Mini LED 4K UHD Samsung Vision AI Smart Tizen TV to the lineup. That's a story for another review, but it speaks to the bigger point: Samsung keeps blowing me away. I have become so faithful to the brand that even as we shop for appliances for the new apartment, I'm planning to stay with Samsung.
The moment I powered the Q990H on, I was struck by the sheer immersion this system delivers. The sound is rich, layered, and beautifully balanced — the kind of audio that makes you stop what you're doing and just listen. Whether I'm watching a film, a concert, or a quiet documentary, the experience feels less like sitting in front of a screen and more like being inside the scene itself.
What I love most is the clarity of voices in movies. Dialogue cuts through cleanly, even in busy action sequences — no more reaching for the remote to bump up the volume just to understand what someone is saying. That alone has transformed how my family watches together.
The one thing I do wish Samsung would address is the limited "sound zone." The moment I step away from the main listening area — into the kitchen, down the hallway — the immersive magic fades. This is one area where Sonos still holds an edge with its satellite speakers placed throughout the home. I would love to see Samsung introduce something similar in a future iteration: small, discreet satellites that extend the experience into other rooms.
That aside, I am genuinely thrilled with this investment. The build quality is excellent, the setup was straightforward, and the performance is, in a word, cinematic. I am very much looking forward to years of enjoyment from it.
If you are weighing whether to take the plunge — take it. You will not be disappointed.

Finally feels like a real theater at home

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve gone through a lot of soundbars over the years, and most of them sound good until you actually sit down and watch something that’s supposed to be immersive. That’s where they usually fall apart. The Samsung HW-Q990H (2026 model) is the first one I’ve owned that actually delivers on what these systems claim to do.
Setup was straightforward. It looks like a lot when you unbox everything, but it connects pretty seamlessly. Once it was dialed in, the difference was immediate. The surround sound isn’t just “louder behind you” like cheaper systems. It actually places sound where it’s supposed to be. You hear things move across the room, above you, behind you. Watching movies feels completely different now.
The bass is strong without being sloppy. The sub hits when it needs to, but it doesn’t overpower everything else. Dialogue is what impressed me the most. Even at lower volumes, voices come through clean and clear, which is something a lot of systems struggle with.
Music performance is better than I expected too. I usually don’t expect much from soundbars when it comes to music, but this one holds its own. It fills the room nicely and doesn’t sound thin or artificial.
One thing I noticed is how well it handles different types of content. Whether it’s streaming, live TV, or gaming, it adjusts without needing constant tweaking. That’s a big deal if you don’t want to mess with settings every time you switch apps.
It’s not a small system, and it’s not cheap, but it actually earns its price. This feels like something built for people who care about sound, not just background noise.
Overall, this is one of those upgrades where you immediately feel like you made the right call.

If you got a Samsung tv like me you can utilize the Q-Symphony to use both the TV speakers and the surround sound system.

Good mix of base and crisp voice quality. I'm still in process of learning to fine tune different settings, but system is capable of fitting all needs whether you a gamer, music lover, or movie watcher.
