I love the live scoreboard function! I used chameleon to record my kid's basketball game. In the past, I had to manually sort out the scores after the game, but now it can show the scores in real - time! It's really convenient to record those kinds of game data.
Did recording twice, so far it meets the minimum requirement of recording but still not able to trace the movement of the ball effective enough (my Gimbal cannot turn to the right and seems not responding immediately. Resulted that the recording then was a-missed.) Should have more instructions on how to do recording effectively. What is view of angle represent, increase viewing angle means the Gimbal turn less or the other way round. Software application and its capability still not able to use effectively on the Chameleon. Need more write-out on the function application. It seems very little verities and cannot get the best results expected.
The battery of chameleon is really durable! I used it to record my school's sports meet, from the basketball games to various competition events throughout the day. So thoughtful!
We purchased this camera to obtain game footage of our son’s hockey games. He is a goalie, and we send his footage to his goalie coach to be reviewed. Upon using it, here are my thoughts: 1 ) I really like using the remote it comes with the “mark” all events (saves, goals), when the game is done it’s a couple clicks and it’s all edited down to a 5 minute clip. Super easy and user friendly! 2 ) I was disappointed with the tracking of the camera most of the time it lagged behind, especially when there was a rush, and it would miss the shots on net, as it could not pan quickly enough to where the action was. Was mostly behind the play. Sometimes, it would focus on the wrong teams goalie, when there wasn’t even any play happening in that end. I ended up turning tracking off, and just essentially using it as a tripod. This is a lot of money to have spent for a tripod, but I do like the marking feature on the remote, that I can relax and watch the game, and not constantly be starting and stopping the video. 3 ) in summary, I probably wouldn’t purchase this again for hockey, maybe it’s better for other sports.
Used it at a soccer game with very little action other than what was happening on the field and it worked quite well. I wish it would auto zoom more. Auto zoom feature seemed to be fully zoomed out all the time. However, I was happy with the result.
Used it at a lacrosse game with people walking around the outside of the field and it struggled quite a bit. It would get totally lost and stare at something way off the field. I had to keep using the remote and pay attention like crazy to keep it in check. It made the experience and camera work bad. It also had problems when play stopped which happens frequently in kids lacrosse. It would be searching for action when there was none at that moment.
In total it is an interesting product and I love the flexibility it offers and lack of subscription requirements. It does a good job with situations where there is no other action going on but not so great if there are lots of people walking around the field.
