Terrible QC - not ready for market
on July 24, 2026
Posted by: HeyDavid
i've gone through 3 of these. all have uniformity issues in brightness and color accuracy. i've done the updates, it's not that. I wish LG would do some QC and refine this 1200 dollar monitor before releasing it. Can't recommend. Also, when I try to calibrate it using LG's own Calibration Studio and the i1 Display Pro, I end up with an intense magenta tint. I do not get this bad result on my older LG 4k panel.

Fantastic Screen and high refresh rate
on July 13, 2026
Posted by: Bhav
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I pre-ordered the monitor and have been using it ever since. The screen was so much better after the firmware upgrade. Everything feels more responsive and brighter. The contrast is better too. I would recommend to calibrate the monitor with the tftcentral settings. Colors look amazing with them.

Mostly a big disappointment
on June 29, 2026

Bought this monitor to hopefully cover all of my use cases:
1. Dual resolution: I used Nvidia's DSR on my last 1440p monitor, rendering games some older games @ 5k for better detail resolve, but it comes with some issues tied to the DSR. So having a native 5k/2k switch sounded great on paper. But you immediately face the first drawback VRR doesn't work @ 330hz. Not mentioning it in specs is borderline false advertising.
2. HDR: I wanted the good eye-searing brightness, but 3 minute auto-dimming behavior (that you can reset flipping local dimming) just ruins the peak brightness, so it becomes pretty average. Additionally local dimming ruins peak brightness as well (and it's mostly useless but more on that later).
3. Motion blur reduction: It exists, but not available with VRR, not available @330hz and achieves good results only @120hz (165 is not great). Clarity is still way worse than Acer Predator XB323U from 6 years ago. But at least it's better than nothing on OLED monitors - so I'm grateful for that at least.
4. Local dimming feature - absolutely useless. You don't get anything near OLED results with HUGE drawbacks: on High you literally lose details from the picture (works like threshold-based tone mapping that just flattens the image). It dims the picture ruining HDR experience. And looks terrible in productivity.
Contrast is generally terrible with or without local dimming.
I guess colors are okay, and low input lag, but at this price point it should be a given.
Overall feels like an inferior OLED with most of OLED drawbacks and one advantage (half-hearted MBR).
My advice - don't buy this, wait for other Dual-res monitors.

Hello! We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG 27GM950B‑B gaming monitor. We value feedback like yours because it helps us continue improving the performance and feature clarity of our displays. This model offers advanced resolution switching, HDR capabilities, motion enhancements, and local dimming options, and we want to help you get the best results from each feature. For VRR and motion settings, we recommend confirming your refresh rate and adaptive sync selections in both the monitor menu and your GPU control panel, as matching these settings often improves stability across modes. For HDR, adjusting the peak brightness and local dimming levels within the monitor’s picture settings can help optimize highlight detail depending on your environment and content. Ensuring your firmware is up to date can also enhance overall performance. We want to help ensure your gaming setup delivers the clarity and comfort you expect. I picked this up mainly for competitive shooters and HDR movies, and it blew me away. Out of the box, the calibration was spot-on. The peak brightness and deep contrast make cinematic scenes look stunning. In fast-paced matches, the buttery smooth refresh rate and instant response time give me a massive edge. Worth every penny!

The nicest screen in my house.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Setup was easy breezy.
The screen is so beautiful and nice. This felt like a treat to myself. I definitely upgraded my professional setup and my gaming setup in one fell swoop.
It looks great on my desk (but I gotta figure out the cord situation).
Gaming on it is so fun. My kids have really enjoyed it too, playing for hours so far this summer.
I'd honestly recommend this to anyone like me (work in creative profession, like to game, want a setup that will level up both). But I would say the speakers aren't great, so make sure you get a pair of speakers when you pick up the monitor.
My friends are going to be jealous.

Best gaming monitor ever
on June 11, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The jump to a native 5K resolution on a 27-inch screen is a total trip. Squeezing that many pixels into a standard desktop size gives you an incredibly dense layout where the clarity is just unreal. Going back to my old monitor feels like looking through a screen door; on this LG, individual pixels completely disappear, text is sharp as a tack, and games look incredibly lifelike. The real jaw-dropper is how bright this thing gets. My old panel would completely wash out if a single ray of sunlight hit the room. This Mini-LED panel punches through everything with blinding peak HDR brightness and holds massive illumination across the entire screen. Best of all, unlike an OLED, it doesn’t aggressively dim itself down to protect the screen, and I don't have to constantly stress about permanent burn-in
Pros: Features/Settings, Performance, Quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

One of the best monitors on the market
on June 8, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The visual quality is insane. It has 5K resolution, so you can literally see details that simply don't appear on other monitors. Everything looks much sharper, brighter, and more cinematic. What impressed me most was the Hyper Mini LED technology. The colors are vibrant, the blacks are much deeper, and HDR1000 makes the highlights and shadows look incredibly realistic, especially in video games and movies. It also has Dual Mode, so you can use 5K at 165Hz for maximum visual quality or QHD at 330Hz for ultra-smooth competitive gaming. It also has a 1ms response time, 5K upscaling, and compatibility with DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1, so it's literally a monitor designed for next-gen gaming. Thank you so much, LG, for providing me with this amazing monitor for review. As always, all opinions, analyses, and conclusions expressed are entirely my own and based on my honest, real-world experience using it.

Defective Immediately and After Update
on June 7, 2026
Posted by: battledingo
I bought this monitor to compare with a Studio Display XDR nano texture, hoping to find something close in image quality and reflection handling but with multiple inputs and a drastically cheaper price (in lieu of heftier construction, built-in webcam, daisy chaining). The image displayed for a few seconds to a minute before turning to noise (like CRT snow) and the monitor became unresponsive to input and would not turn off without being disconnected from power. This occurred on every input - USB-C, DisplayPort, HDMI - on PC, Mac, and even a few times without any input. After several attempts I managed to get the firmware updated with the LG Switch app but the issue persisted.
Since something was clearly defective, I don’t want to judge the image quality, though it seemed fairly close for the few seconds I was able to see it. Test images had slight vignetting at the corners.

Hello. Thank you for sharing your experience regarding your LG 27GM950B-B Monitor. We aim to design cutting-edge displays that offer exceptional visual performance and seamless connectivity, and we want to help ensure your screen delivers a steady, premium picture across all your devices.
When a display experiences sudden screen noise or becomes unresponsive across different inputs, we recommend performing a power reset by disconnecting the power cord from the outlet, holding down the power button on the monitor for ten seconds, and then plugging it directly into a known working wall outlet. Additionally, verifying that your connected devices are set to a supported resolution and refresh rate can help stabilize the video signal. You can review our official configuration guide at https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-monitor-how-to-change-the-resolution-settings--20153192567583 for detailed steps on adjusting these display properties. If the screen behavior continues after these adjustments, please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com so we can investigate this situation and help find a proper resolution. ^James
