Cleaning this fan out is not as easy as the booklet says it is.

We really like Vornado fans. I think this is the model we have. Hard to tell, but the back of the fan looks like what we have.Anyway I need to clean it out and here's the problem. I HAVE YET TO FIND THE SCREWS TO UNSCREW IN THE BACK, THERE ARE NO SCREWS AT 10,2 AND 6 OCLOCK POSITIONS. NONE. The only screws I find are on the pivot arms which I'm told TO NOT REMOVE. Then there's the problem of the grille clips. I'm afraid if I try to play with them I'll BREAK THIS FAN.
SO CLEANING THIS FAN IS NOT AS EASY AS THE BOOKLET SAYS IT IS.
Our fan is LOADED WITH DUST and since we're allergic to dust we need to clean this puppy out. BUT DON'T ASK ME HOW TO DO IT WITHOUT POSSIBLY BREAKING IT.

I really enjoy Vornado air circulators because they do just that- circulate the air around a room very well enough that you don't need the fan blowing air directly on your face or body. You can just put it in a corner and it will move the air around and cool the whole room without turning it on high power. And it is quiet. Fantastic!

Typical excellent quality and design as expected from Vornado. I have a bunch of the smaller versions of this model and have grow to like this larger one for moving more air. Great for under a desk or around the house. Would recommend.

Cannot clean without breaking

Bought the fan because of circulation and quietness. Gave up trying to clean it properly because the grill wasn’t released after the clips were recessed. 2 years now and lizard gets into the fan and sticks to the fan blade. Now that the fan’s not quiet it’s time to try again. Release the 4 tabs, stick shims in as well. No joy, not budging. Pull and push harder while using the flathead screw driver for leverage and POP, off comes the housing with several hidden screws that snapped off. Time for another fan that is not designed for failure.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I use my Vornado fan in place of a ceiling fan, to move warm air down off the ceiling of my drafty old farmhouse and circulate it at the level where I actually live. I've bought these fans over the course of many years now because they stand up to the hard use they get at my house. Basically, I turn the fan on in the fall and run it continuously until spring. I use one big one out in the living room and another smaller one in the office/spare bedroom. I haven't found any other fan that can take this kind of use and keep on going. I'm also really impressed with the amount of air that Vornado fans move, and the way they concentrate that column of air to really move the heat around. Again, no other brand has performed as well for me. Hope Vornado can keep the quality up!
