Very excited for this line

I just built this set and I love everything about it. I love that it has a narrative that unfolds as you build (and no doubt more to come with future sets), I love all the details in the different areas, I love the colors, I love the overall design (especially the tree element).
My only complaint is that it feels like it should be bigger.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fun build but it needs more

The build itself was fun. All of the exterior details are fantastic, especially the tree growing through the right side of the house. My problem is with the interior. There are 6 studs front to back for the interior. 6. You can't do much of anything with a distance of that type, and it shows. What is there is really good, but with all of the furniture set in place, there is hardly any room for the minifigs. You can't even fit all of them on the first floor. I thought the price of this was a little on the high side before I purchased it but I was hoping for more on the interior. My other issue is the complete lack of play functions. Halloween theme stuff could do so much to add fun, play details.
This is an okay first entry for this Midnight Valley theme, and I look forward to more, but if this is a companion to the Holiday theme, it needs to do a better job, especially with the two glaring issues I mentioned above.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An excellent set

I love this set. The asymmetry makes for a fun building experience and looks nice when you display it. The minifigs are super cool, I love the glow-in-the-dark heads. They remind me of the old Monster Fighters characters. I’m excited to see where this collection goes!

A hauntingly good debut.

The Midnight Valley collection is here, and it's off to a screaming start. This was a delightful build all around: surprisingly sturdy, never repetitive, and best of all? No stickers! The included prints are uniformly lovely. My favorite part were all the odd shapes and little details created by the tree growing through one side of the house; it really leaves you with the impression that the building is being torn apart.
There's little in the way of play experience here. No play features, and no moving parts save for the front doors. For myself -- and much of the target audience, I suspect -- this is not an issue, as the set perfectly satisfies its purpose as a "Halloween village" display, but I thought I'd mention it. Kids might still find enjoyment simply moving the manor's residents around and inventing their own stories.
My one true critique is that I wish the maid came with a neutral expression, as the butler and the mayor did. Those two have the option of appearing either dour or friendly at the builder's preference, but the maid is always smiling. An incredibly minor quibble in what is otherwise an exceptional start to hopefully a long-running collection!

Love the build. Pretty staright forward design. Love the trees growing from building. Love the different furniture for house. The construction of doors was good. Very good set to start off this series with. Cant wait to see what is next.

An awesome spooky start to a new series

As soon as I saw this set I knew I had to get it immediately. It packs so many clever building techniques into the package, it feels like building one of the more intricate modular buildings at a smaller scale. There are so many thoughtful design elements and a few surprises, so nothing gets repetitive or boring. I kept being impressed by the level of detail and the thoughtfulness of the design. The piece count for the price is extremely reasonable. The characters are pretty delightful, too. Very much looking forward to adding the next entries to the series in years to come!

I got this built today and it looks so good. There’s so much exterior detail and really creative ways to get the effects of the branches breaking the manor apart. It’s a really physically solid build, looks even better in person, and was really fun. Not really any play features but I got it more so as Halloween decor, which I think is the real intent anyways. Looking forward to more Halloween builds in this theme in the future!
