[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Disclosure : I received this toothbrush as part of a Philips product test program. This did not influence my words in anyway.
The toothbrush has the signature Phillips clean mouth feeling, with some of the bells & whistles from nicer models removed. The build quality of the toothbrush doesn't feel as premium (but I do like that the body is black, unlike their Prestige models - it actually matches the toothbrush head). It also lacks some of the attachments other models have, such as a carrying/charging case or an additional brush head.
But the clean is there. That's the core part of it - this is an ideal toothbrush for someone that wants the feeling that brushing with a Sonic toothbrush provides. The motor is powerful, the brush holds well, and the battery life is phenomenal. I'm someone that doesn't tend to use some of the other brush modes, I stick to either standard or the deep clean for more brush time, but I haven't really felt a need to change modes to the longer clean at all since the standard one does a good job cleaning. The brush head that it comes with is not my favorite however - I do prefer the A3 brush heads. I was unable to swap during my time with the product.

Smart Toothbrush Makes Brushing a Breeze
on August 31, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a bit leery of a smart toothbrush, but there are a few specific features that drew me to the Philips Sonicare 6400 - first, that it would alert me if I was brushing too hard via a nifty light at the base of the brush, and second, that it would tell me when it was time to change the brush head. While I haven’t had the toothbrush long enough to use the second feature, I’ve already noticed a difference in my brushing technique from the real time feedback that this brush provides!
My teeth feel cleaner, especially when I use the “whitening” mode that it offers (an extra 30 seconds of cleaning, meant to target the front section of your mouth), although the basic cleaning mode does a great job too and my mouth feels fresh when I’m done. I love that the brush provides a vibration alert/timer to move on to the next section of my mouth as I am brushing, and really appreciate that it’s meant to cover 6 sections of your mouth. It really helps compared to a manual brush and timer.
Love the fact that it’s rechargeable and that it comes with a carrying case that can store two brush heads - it would be even better if the toothbrush could charge in the case, but I think that’s available in a different version. My one complaint about the case is that you have to make sure the brush is totally dry - I used it at work and then stuck the case in my purse without drying it thoroughly and a bit of water leaked out. Not a dealbreaker by any means - especially when it means that I am brushing after lunch! I also wish that the charger came with the wall plug; it’s a USB cable, so I just used a plug that I had from an old phone.
Aesthetically, the black handle is pretty great. Very modern and clean looking. The black handle and case make it extra cool to use as a brush on the go.
I received the Philips Sonicare 6400 Rechargeable Toothbrush from the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

Good First Electric Toothbrush
on September 2, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first ever electric toothbrush, and I have been really liking it. I did review the user guide before using it, since I was uncertain about the settings and what the best practice is for using it. With it being my first one, seeing the mouth diagram in the manual and then having the mouth section timer has been great! The unique buzz for moving to another part of my mouth is really clear, and I was able to find a rhythm with it quite quickly - this is definitely my favorite part of the brush. The thing I'm still learning is not turning the brush on when it's not in the mouth otherwise it will fling all the brush ick all over.
I was surprised by how small the brush area is on the head compared to a regular toothbrush, but after a few uses, it's clear that it does the job. The first time I used it, it feel like my teeth looked noticeably cleaner. After a few more uses, I'm not sure that was the toothbrush, but my teeth do feel noticeably cleaner with this electric brush than with my normal toothbrush. After our first week together, I went on weekend trip without this brush and was really disappointed to not have it.
Overall, the look of the toothbrush is quite sleek, and the feel in hand is comfortable. The buttons are easy to use.
The main challenge I have is storage. I don't have a great spot for it in my bathroom, so I need to remove the head every time I store it. Hopefully this doesn't cause an issue over time. I also have to put it in a weird place to charge, because of limited space, but since I hopefully won't have to charge it very often, that's not a big deal. I also wish it would come with the wall plug, not just a cord. Too many products are doing away with this and if no one gives you any, then what...I don't want to have to buy a wall adapter.

Perfect for sensitive teeth
on September 2, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love this toothbrush. I’ve been looking for a replacement for my electric toothbrush for a while, and wasn’t sure where to start. I received this toothbrush as part of the Stellar product testing panel, and I’m so grateful for it.
I have sensitive teeth and gum recession and need a toothbrush where I can control the speed and it has a soft enough head to not aggravate my mouth. This toothbrush was extremely gentle yet got my mouth very clean. Even my dentist made a comment about how clean my teeth were.
I like that there’s different functions for whitening as well as cleaning. I also like how it looks and is very aesthetically pleasing on my countertop.

Excellent Electric Toothbrush

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am absolutely in love with this toothbrush. I have an older model Philips toothbrush and this is a wonderful upgrade for me. The design is very sleek and modern and coordinates well with our bathroom decor. The travel case is also a lot slimmer than my prior Sonicare's case which will make for much more efficient packing and travelling. After using this toothbrush my teeth feel like I've just left the dentist's office. The integrated app was new for me but the setup was smooth and effortless. I really like that the app helps to influence better brushing habits (honestly I wish I had this for my kids!). The brush also has built in timers and sensors to track time spent on each section of your mouth and to avoid too much pressure when brushing. My favorite feature of the toothbrush is definitely the different intensities. I have extremely sensitive gums and finding a toothbrush can be very difficult for me sometimes. The sensitive setting is perfect for helping to reduce inflammation without further irritating my gums. I have no complaints about this toothbrush and would definitely recommend trying it! Thanks to Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing this brush for me to review!

Fresh and clean

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Using this brush left my mouth fresh and clean. Love that the toothbrush isn’t heavy compared to other brands. Love the sensitivity of the brush head, it was really soft. My gums are super sensitive and this brush was more gentle than my manual toothbrush. Overall I love everything about it. The feel, the way it leaves your mouth fresh and clean after brushing with it it feels like getting out of the dentist. I received this product from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Also I got 8 extra brush heads with the product. Totally in love and will totally recommend it to everyone I know.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have no complaints with my Sonic series 6400. I love the Sonic brand. My dental hygienist 1st recommended it to me. I have since purchased one for my daughter and grandbaby. I want them to have the best oral hygiene products available. You are a cut above in dental care. Philips Sonic tooth brushes is the way to go. Rest assured.

Philips Sonicare 5300

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the product for free as part of a product test. The Sonicare 5300 is a rechargeable toothbrush. Overall, it had an average performance at cleaning my teeth and was not that much better than a regular, non-electric toothbrush. It comes with a removable brush head, a handle that contains the rechargeable battery, and a base with a USB-A charger. It does not come with an adapter for the USB-A attachment. This makes it inconvenient to charge, because I have to have a USB-A adapter or computer with USB-A ports in order to charge the product. I only have one USB-A adapter, and use it, primarily for my phone. I have a dock with a USB-A adapter that plugs into my computer, and I don’t want to have to bring a wet toothbrush into the room with the computer and plug it into that port to charge. I would like to keep it in my bathroom to use and charge, when necessary, without having to look for an adapter. I have multiple regular outlets readily available, and I would have preferred a charger with a two-prong electrical cord that plugs into an outlet. The instructions recommend dividing one’s mouth into six sections, three upper and three lower. It beeps at intervals to remind the user when to move to the next section of the mouth. It took some getting used to that method. The brushing time is two minutes and beeps every twenty seconds to move to the next section. I would prefer that there were more options for time, because I like to brush the rest of my mouth also, so my options are to brush for another two minutes on the rest of my mouth, or brush my tongue, palate, and gums within the allotted two minutes. There are two settings for the intensities of brushing: low and high. There is no indicator light to show which is low intensity and which is high intensity, so I have to push the on/off button at least four times to get it to high intensity. It would help to have an indicator light to show low & high intensity. It says in the instructions that the 5500 model only has intensity settings, and not the 5300, which I have. There is a clear difference in intensities with the model I have, however, when I push the on/off button in succession. So, it is not clear if the instructions are correct that the 5300 does not have intensity settings. The directions were a bit confusing. They state that there is an EasyStart feature that gently increases power over the first 14 brushings and that the EasyStart, Brush Head replacement reminder, and Pressure Sensor Feedback may be deactivated or activated. I did not try to activate or deactivate features. I did notice, once, that when I brushed with too much pressure, there was a change in vibration and sound of the brush, to indicate to use less pressure. When I decreased the pressure, the vibration and noise went back to the usual settings. It feels slightly heavy to hold. The brush head vibrates a lot. If I opened my lips while brushing a small amount, especially on the high intensity setting, toothpaste would spray on my bathroom mirror, wall, and sink. It made a mess. I would prefer a rotating brush, because it seems more effective. After brushing my teeth, I have noticed residual food at the base of my teeth, even after I focus more brushing time on that particular area of my teeth. After using it about 16 days or slightly more, the battery indicator light went down from three lights to one. I’m not sure if there was a loss in intensity of the vibrations after this time. I did not leave it on the charger over those days; I kept it in a plastic cup. I did not charge it before using it for the very first time, as the instructions did not state that charging before any use was required. It was fully charged on first use. It never got to flashing amber and beeping 3 times after brushing, which is the low battery status indicator. The instructions state that the battery has a 21 day battery life. It’s not clear from the instructions, at what battery level it is best to charge the unit. It is also not clear if it is possible to overcharge the unit, if I were to keep it plugged into an outlet at all times. Again, after using this product, I think it performs at an average level in cleaning my teeth, with confusing features, and an inconvenient charger base USB-A plug. I do not recommend it.
