Works as expected. The touch screen makes texting without a phone a lot easier. It is noticeablely bigger than the mini 2

Phone was dead on trail. Luckily had the map saved on my garmin mini as backup!

I absolutely love the new features and easier to read screen. The additional pre-scripted messages are great for checking in with people. The added bonus of being able to get assistance if needed.

Good piece of mind!

Super easy to set up and link to the app. Used on a few off-grid trail runs and my location was sent as expected using the live tracking. There is a strap hole in the unit but no strap is provided, which I wish they would add.

I really only used basic functions - texting & weather - while on a canoe trip. I found the product to be easy to use and worth the investment! Looking forward to learning more of the other functions in the future.

I bought 2 of these, out of nessessity. Long story very short - my wife and were out driving on a boundary road between the US and Canada, we broke down, no cell service whatsoever. I decided to leave me wife in the truck while I walked back (9 miles) where I could get a signal and call for help.
So... After all that I decided I needed a device that would work 'off grid'. This indeed does that, yes you have to get a subscription, but you have to do that for everything these days.
It's cute, small, battery seems to last forever..
However... it is almost (for me with larger hands/fingers) to type on. I keep hitting the 'other' letter, can't seem to get the keyboard back button to work at all.

Don’t buy

Works how it’s supposed to. I’ve used it on a three day trip. But absolutely wouldn’t buy this one. Go ahead and get the plus it’s not that much more expensive but expand your capabilities drastically even if you don’t think you’re gonna use it. Maybe if this model had a legacy subscription which was less expensive or something on those lines it would be worthwhile but I think this is a poor choice at the price they have it at. I actually plan on returning or selling it and getting a plus model
