Everything about the XG mobile 5090 is really great on paper, but actually using it. I'm a little bit underwhelmed by it. One of the big issues is the fact that it cannot charge the tablet at full speed so you have to use the actual tablet charger while using the XG mobile. Also because of this you can't use HDR on windows because the OS thinks you are running on battery power so it will never switch over. So this is the one big con about this device other than that. It is a magnificent unit. I get 60 plus fps on everything I play at 4K. It definitely does connect all of my stuff. Such as keyboard, mouse etc. I would recommend, but I would also wait till you have a Thunderbolt 5 device to use this with using it on a Thunderbolt 4 device just seems to come with a lot of issues and caveats.

We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if it cannot charge a tablet at full speed and unable to sue HDR in Windows. This XG Mobile has a powerful integrated 330W power supply designed to power both the external GPU and the tablet. However, the system dynamically distributes power, and if the GPU and CPU are under heavy load (like during demanding games), the power available for battery charging might be reduced causing slow charging on the tablet. If you're unable to use HDR, ensure Windows is up to date and the graphics driver was installed.
