Best Switch to a Mesh System

Prior to purchasing this mesh system I had a standard Netgear router. I was very skeptical on well these mesh systems actually work and I am very impressed. It truly covers the 4000 sqft they advertise. Extremely happy with this latest Netgear purchase/upgrade!

Old Orbi seemed better

I replaced my old Orbi AC1200 Dual-Band Mesh WiFi Router with the Orbi 370 Series Dual-Band WiFi 7 Mesh (1 Router + 2 Satellites) due to an end of life support email. The router and satellites went into the exact location of the old Orbi. The signal strength of the old Orbi was alway blue between the nodes and were spread out in a "Y" network topology. The new Orbi doesn't show a signal strength unless you are "sync"ing the nodes. Also, the new Orbi keeps deciding that a string topology is better than the "Y" topology that the Old Orbi used even though it will form a "Y" topology for a short while after forcibly syncing to cause the "Y" topology. The troubleshooting FAQ says that this isn't optimum and that I should relocate the router and the satellites so that they form a "Y" even though they both connect fine when one is unplugged. I'm not having any speedtest issues so I guess I'm going to stick with the string topology.

Pain to update

Not only do you have to change every single device to the new network and password but then some items are no longer compatible because of whatever is new in it.

Disappointed . Upgraded to this system having a satellite addition which I placed next to my tv. Every time I want to watch a live sporting event, it buffers. Have to go into the steaming device setup and then even though it shows the ORBI11 is connected, the speeds are in the 80's with a 300/300 modem. After resetting the satellite and sync it again , the problem is temporarily fixed. The next time I want to watch a live sporting event (usually once or twice a day ) I have to repeat the whole process again.

Works well. It took a little time to set up but it was not difficult. The instructions are good.

What do you mean, “can’t find the internet”??

The Orbi doesn’t have some of the most basic security functions, specifically, hiding the SSID. The installation instructions are overly complicated and, if you’re not a bit tech savvy, it will fail and you won’t know why.

X-Box could not find the he Orbi 370 Series Dual-Band WiFi 7 Mesh signal.

I found that a X-Box of my grandson could not find / connect to the Orbi 370 Series Dual-Band WiFi 7 Mesh (1 Router + 1 Satellite).
Had to run an Ethernet cable to the X-Box.
Also the Orbi 370 Series Dual-Band WiFi 7 Mesh (1 Router + 1 Satellite) had only 1 ethernet port as opposed to Orbi I had before with 5. Somewhat disapointing.
