Nice design but just doesn't work well for me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this flosser for free as a part of a product test. It's very well designed and looks nice; I especially like how compact it is and how you can store the nozzle inside. I was looking for an easier way to floss, but this just seems like too much of a hassle for me. It's hard to use it without splashing water everywhere, and having to spit the water out regularly is annoying. The battery life has been excellent; I've used it for several weeks without needing to charge it. I like that there are three different settings, but I couldn't find one that would work well for me. Using a floss pick just seems easier and less messy than this.

I wanted to love this but it's not for me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So this flosser had quite a bit of a learning curve- at least for me, I'm a string style flosser who's only dabbled with water flossers in the past. I found it hard to get used to the mouth positioning and having your mouth hang open whilst water runs out doesn't come naturally (I kept wanting to hold it in). Even once I had become more accustomed I still found it awkward to hold and get in the correct position and I found no matter what I always made a mess because inevitably you have to move it in the direct path of the water spewing out of your mouth. Perhaps if the handle was thinner it would have been easier to maneuver. A portable small sized water flosser sounds so appealing but given all the hassle I found it didn't clean any better than my usual string floss. Perhaps a veteran water flosser user would have an easier time with this. I received this product to test in exchange for my honest opinion.

Love the machine hate the flow of water
on August 16, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Philips Sonicare Compact Flosser 1000 as a part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Thank you, Stellar!
I'm a twice daily teeth brusher and daily flosser. I typically use string floss but I have used other water like flossers in the past. I also have an automatic tooth brush that lets me know when I've been brushing the recommended 2 minutes.
Pros:
Physically I love the design, I got the lavender color which is one of my favorites. The machine itself is as big as cell phone and much wider to hold more water. It's very easy to handle in. The buttons are soft and easy to use.
I love that the plastic flosser can detach with an eject button and go inside the machine to keep it sanitary and help with the compactness of the design. It basically was the size of having a lotion or sunscreen in my toilet tree cabinet.
This product also came with two replacement heads. I really love the head with the white, plastic pointy part on the end. I felt like I had better control over the water stream in certain areas in between my teeth and my gums. It also surprisingly reached my back teeth which are hard to get through other flossing methods.
Usage:
It's very user friendly. I gently pulled down a clear case at the bottom which became a water container and I'm able to fill up the water in the hole behind the flosser head. There's a drain inside the cup that siphons the water to the flosser efficiently. Overall the machine is very intuitive and easy to use. I liked that there were three different options: sensitive, pulse, and stream. The sensitive option was my favorite and allowed me the best control when cleaning out the plaque in between my teeth.
Cons:
Water flow: unfortunately, I had a lot of issues with the water flow. I prefer to have a steady stream of water that I can used to navigate in between my teeth. When trying out this device multiple times, I had an issue with all three different modes creating a water pulse of varying strength. Even the sensitive option was still pulsing and made it hard to navigate the flosser to go in individual spots in my gums & teeth.
Due to the varying pulsation of the water, it would reflect off of my teeth and completely spray my entire bathroom mirror / backsplash area. I couldn't even keep my eyes open and keep the machine going to test the timer option because of the spray being so overwhelming. I hoped that this compact version would be nice and quick/easy to use but due to the water flow situation I'm unable to floss my teeth properly without being in the shower with clothes I don't mind getting wet, goggles, and a mirror. I don't know if my particular flossing machine caused the issues or if this is standard for this device.
Overall: 2 stars
Unfortunately, I can't use this device on a regular basis, which I'm really sad about. If there's a way the water flow problem could be fixed to more of a steady stream, especially in the sensitive option- I'd use this on a daily basis.
I will go back to my string floss for now. I'm grateful for the opportunity to try this item and if I could receive knowledge on how to have a steady flow, I would definitely make this apart of my daily routine.

Good but not great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, I do want to mention that this product comes in a few adorable colors and looks clean and sharp. I feel like this water flosser effectively cleans, but even with the multiple settings available, using this product was not an overall comfortable experience. I'm planning on using this product longer to see if there's just a learning curve for ease of use or if the product just isn't effectively designed. Additionally, the resovior doesn't fit very well underneath my sink faucet so that's another annoyance to deal with.

Uniquely featured design with shortfalls

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited I was selected by the Stellar Product Testing Panel to try out the new Philips Sonicare Compact Flosser. Ironically I just had to get a bridge put on by my dentist and they recommended that I get a water flosser for ease of cleaning under my bridge and said it came with a lot of health benefits for your teeth. I also travel multiple times a month for my job so this being compact for travel was a huge bonus!
PROS: Compact design - nest into each other for ease of traveling. I also liked that the nozzle could nest inside as well to save space. The color was also aesthetically pleasing as well.
CONS: Now unfortunately for where this product fell short for me- The hose inside the water tank, by suction, kept getting pulled to the top of the tank so when I was using the flosser it was just blowing out air unless I kept it at an angle that was not helpful for flossing. The only way to get the water flosser good enough for one use was to unattach the water tank completely from the unit, move the hose straight down. put back together and then floss. However, the next night I would have to do this process all over again as the suction brought the hose up against the top and only allowed air to push through. It was quite annoying have to manually adjust the hose every time I wanted to use the product. I would except each night to just fill the water tank through the opening at the top and start flossing but this design does not allow for that.
This product had a ton of potential due to its compact, travel easy design but definitely needs to be worked out more from a design perspective.

Good for travel but maybe not everyday use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dentist has been urging me to try a travel water flosser, so I was excited to receive this Sonicare flosser through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. It comes with three modes—Clean, Pulse, and Sensitive—plus both a standard and a sensitive nozzle. Since I have gums that bleed easily, I was grateful for the sensitive options. With the standard nozzle, the Sensitive mode felt too weak, but Clean mode made my gums bleed. The best combo for me was the sensitive nozzle on the Clean setting—it struck the right balance of pressure and gentleness. I also like how compact it is for travel and that it fits easily in my carry-on. The tradeoff is the smaller reservoir; I need two refills to get through my whole mouth. Overall, this is good for travel, but won't replace my home flosser.

Decent but needs tweaks to be great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this oral health care item from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I'm not a normal flosser, but only when I know I have something stuck in my teeth, so this was an interesting product to try. It is pretty compact if you need to travel, but that comes with pros and cons. There's three settings and two nozzles types, to find a means for everyone. I recommend reading the instructions first. If you don't get it latched into the right spot, the water container will move and cover the on/off button (and water flies everywhere). You need to make sure the "straw" bringing up the water is in the right spot (at the bottom) or it won't work properly. If you are using a water flosser for the first time, it can get messy (water spraying) until you get used to how to have your mouth open to drain properly. I do love the timer cues to move onto the next area. My biggest issue is the water container size isn't big enough to last a full cycle on the clean setting. You would need to stop and add more water. Maybe some don't mind, but this is an annoying inconvenience for me. It does seem/feel cleaner after using, but the true test will be the next dentist appointment.

This product is pretty good!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how minimalistic and non junky this product is. It’s easy to use and refill and I love the three modes of cleaning the water flosser gives. My biggest complaint is how much water is used. About a minute of usage and the water is gone which may not be too bad for other people. Just something to note! I have received this product for free as part of a product test.
