I bought two of these in June 2012 to protect my brand-new oak hardwood floors in two rooms where we have computer desks and rolling office chairs. As time went on I noticed that the flooring looked a little odd through the mats especially aroung the edges (where the chairs rarely rolled). I finally took the mats up today. Although my flooring has five layers of polyurethane on it the floor has been so severely scuffed by the mats it looks like it has been sanded. I'm going to need to have those area refinished. It disturbs me that items that I bought for the purpose of protecting my floors have so seriously damaged it!
In retrospect I would of bought the rectangular shape the in I bought with the "lip" to slide under the desk is awkward. Would of preferred full carpet coverage
We purchased this for my mom to use after she broke her left leg in two places. She was unable to put any weight on it. My mom is 92 and in terrific shape! The chair mat is used on the carpet next to her electric Lazy Boy. It makes it easier for her to maneuver herself from the chair to the transport / wheel chair by scooting her right foot on the mat vs the carpet. The mat lies flat. The only problem is the slight odor of the plastic. We have one along side her bed and when I walk in the room I can smell it. I let it air out on the outside deck and it seems to be much better. Thanks for a great product!
