One of STAPLES associates recommended this special flat pile carpet chair mat by asking if I wanted for wooden floor or carpet and he showed me the spikes on the reverse of the mat to hold it in its place. "this chair mat stays firmly in place" - Nope

I have a medium pile carpet and I purchased this chair mat specifically because the description said "this chair mat stays firmly in place". However this is definitely not the case as I have to re-position it every few hours. Very frustrating!

The store associate indicated the mat might work on 3/8" residential carpet. Although it is better than no mat it quickly develops depressions from the chair casters. It would appear the other thicker mat would work better.
