As far as the mat functionality it's fine. But it has a tacky surface and no matter what I try I can't get rid of it. It's not from the tape that it was rolled up in it's the entire surface that's tacky. I wear socks when I use it then take the socks off when I walk around the rest of the room so it won't make my floors sticky.

I mainly got this because my office chair kept getting stuck in my carpet which didn’t used to be a problem until I was sitting in it far more often for WFH. I was hoping this mat would resolve that issue but the plastic isn’t hard enough to keep the wheels from sinking in. It’s better than it was but I probably needed to get a higher end mat to prevent what is happening now.

The chair mat is the carpet protector I needed. I assume it is doing what it is designed to do - I just do not know. I bought the chair protector because my niece is working at "home" which this week is my Mom's house. The desk chair my niece had was not working with the new carpet Mom just had put in the living room. Neither my Mom nor my niece were going to go get the chair mat but now I am not getting daily calls about the desk chair damaging the new carpet so I assume it is working just fine.
