I recently had new carpeting installed and it was recommended that I put a mat under my chair to protect the carpet from wear and tear. I had looked at Staples way back and all they had were these really big ones that covered almost my entire floor. Well that wasn’t going to happen. So I was really pleased to see this smaller version. This one does the job and thankfully it’s a whole lot smaller. It did take me a day to get used to it but I’m very picky.
It's the perfect size for the small space that it is used. Slides now and then but that is nit a problem for me. If it last 4 yrs like the prior one then that's a plus.
I was 'advised' by a sales rep at Staples to get the MEDIUM pile chair mat...although it was more expensive than the LOW pile mat it would last longer on a medium pile carpet as the chair's wheels would not cause dents/dugouts/divots in the mat. Well either Staples sent the LOW pile version by mistake or the MEDIUM pile mat is an absolute waste of money. Why? Because within a day -- 2 at most -- dents/dugouts/divots started appearing on my chair mat!!! After less than a week it's already so bad that when I roll my chair on the mat the wheels slip into the dents/dugouts/divots on the mat that were supposed to be avoided by my having purchased the more expensive mat. Absolute WASTE of money!
After 1 day it hot divets in the pad from the desk chair that the chair gets stuck in. They aren't even in the best place to work from. Might return it
I've gone through countless less expensive chair mats over the years and this one is by far the best at several things. 1st it is thick enough that the chair rolls very nicely on it. 2nd in my application it does not creep. 3rd even though it's not a huge deal I don't miss the pointy spikes on the bottom. The ribs seems to work fine. Time will tell this is the 1st chair mat I've bought that comes flat not rolled. Hopefully that says something about the durability. Very please.
