Quality worth the money

I first bought one of the chair mats for "medium" pile. I had actually measured by using a straightened paper clip and my carpet pile plus pad was exactly 3/4 inch thick as they specified... but my chair left dents in the plastic and I'm only 180 pounds. So... I returned it (Staples is very good about that) and ordered this heavier one (that they call 'high' for up to 1 inch thick carpet/pad combination). It is definitely the better choice. Move up a thickness compared to the basic rating and you'll be happier with your purchase!

Set up the mat in my home office put the chair on the mat. Hadn't even sat in the chair on the mat and there were already dents in the mat. Dents just make it harder to roll around in the chair

My old floor chair mat wore out. It was a pain trying to move my chair from place to place. This new one is thicker so the chair slides more easily and doesn't create "craters" in the mat due to my weight or the carpeting. Very smart move and love this mat. I easily replaced the old one by changing how I aligned this with my desk and I'm glad. Now I have wider movement easier slide and better access to my needs. I recommend this mat to anyone with a medium pile carpet who spends a lot of time at your desk.

Unless it is a kid using this.... don't bother. Plastic is so soft that your wheels sink. Not worth the money. I returned it.
